Noob stereo question....

Postby mark_a_thorpe on Wed Jul 21, 2010 1:13 pm

When looking to buy a cd player for the car...does it need to have anything specific, connector-wise? I can see on the unit at the moment, that the main one that was used was a chunky rectangular plug?

You'll need a Toyota to ISO connector. Quite cheap on well know auction sites. Or the ability to join tons of wires together

Mines originally had a kenwood in it, and i replaced it with pioneer - needed to buy a new wiring block for this, and due to my impatience it got it from halfrauds so lyk £15- but can probably get them cheaper online, iirc some suggestions were that you need a pioneer/sony/jvc (or watever brand you got) to iso connector, and also iso to toyota. But mines worked with one, so think it depends on headunit choice depended on if you will need 1 or 2 looms.

If not already get your aerial on a rocker as its uber uncool for it to go up auto everytime u turn on hu. - esp since your car looks ace :p (will try an sweet talk u up until the day u sell your car, in hope that u will consider selling me the alloys - lol jokin m8 :P)

Another Noob here.....

Have been given a nice BRAND NEW Pioneer single DIN head unit.

Anyone know where I can get a decent conversion kit to change from the double DIN?

Ta!!!!!!!!!

Marvelous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for that.

One more question, what size are the standard door speakers.
Found a nice set of speakers/tweeters for £40 ish depending on size

Thanks

Ok folks....bought a cheap CD player to replace the broken one, and the plugs/connectors for the old unit dont fit the new one - doh!

Here's a photo of what's on the rear of this new one:

And these are the "obvious" dangly connectors that are already wired into the car.

Finally, these are the connectors that came with the new (maybe new isnt the word...) stereo - not much use to me as they're all chopped off!

Davy - would that link you posted above work for this? The new stereo has a bigger connector (connector being the main on at the fuse in the stereo itself) than my old unit.

If not, does anyone have any idea what I need to fit this lil beastie? thanks in advance!
