Hello from a new member

Postby DropLinked » Sat Jan 13, 2018 12:30 pm

New member here popping in to introduce myself and say hello.

I bought a nice little PFL roadster from a forum member a couple of weeks ago, and absolutely love it so far!

I've been without a fun car for a couple of years whilst we've been saving up, buying, and renovating our first home. During that time I've been smoking about in old Volvo's, which have been fantastic daily drivers/workhorses, and generally all round great cars except in one all important way - fun.

Now that project is finished I finally have the time to get back into recreational motoring - plan is to drive it as much as I can, and maybe do a few track days too.

The car doesn't need much in the way of maintenance, just need to give it a good service and a 4 wheel alignment and then drive!

As a get to know the car I'll undoubtedly get sucked into the world of upgrades, but that might have to wait for now as I'm getting married this year.

Found this forum very helpful so far so thanks to the community!

Regards,
DropLinked

Glad you have joined the clan. The 2 will give you therapy from your daily drive. Weather will soon be improving so get that service done, plugs filters and oil will be less than £50 with some relatively simple spannering and will keep things sweet.

Hello and welcome.
What paulj said.
Set of sparkies are not much more than a tenner delivered.
Standard air and oil filters. MrT.
Oil of your choice. Most go fully synth on here and quite a few change it twice a year.
I would add an ECU reset and MAF clean. (use the search top right)
Check your tyre pressures as well.
Cannot stress enough, how much a fresh matching set of boots adds to the driving pleasure.

Thanks for the welcome all.

Here's a pic from my only drop top drive so far.

I've got the parts/fluids for a full service, now just need a free weekend! Going to book a wheel alignment soon too - it's tramlining a bit, and the tracking is off slightly.

I'm already considering booking a trackday in March - I'd like to learn the cars limits in a safe environment, as it feels like you'd have to be doing silly speeds to get anywhere near on a public road!

As you have probably already worked out.
Straight line = boring
Bendy twistys = all the fun of the fair
Stuff that will leave you for dead on the straight, you will be over them like a rash in the bends.
I'm into my 5th yr of ownership and the above still makes me giggle like an 8yr old

Add in some fresh suspension, tyres and a quality geo, then think where the limit is

Yeah, looking forward to getting the alignment/geo done. The previous owner recently fitted 4 new toyo T1-R's, so a good setup will really compliment the new tyres.

Some Meister coilovers are in the want list, but that'll probably have to wait until after the wedding!
