Facelift Bumper Inserts

Postby uktotty on Thu Jul 29, 2010 8:22 am

Any of you guys with a facelift car, do you know how the rear bumper inserts attach or remove please?
Anyone got a pic of them removed?

Cheers

They don't use anything to actually attach, they clip on. They can only be put in from inside the bumper except the little centre mesh parts (like the circular inserts on the pre-facelift) which you can actually take off from the outside (maybe I shouldn't have said that people will go stealing them now!); but unlike the pre-facelift ones they don't have anything to hold them on if you pop them out.

I might have a photo of them off the car in the mods section on my website if you have a look Russ (in my signature - I'm on phone so can't look atm) but if not I'll fish one out tonight.

Cheers Steven, so do you have to remove the whole rear grille to fit these bad boys?

Seeminly some people have fitted these without removing bumper, but I can imagine this would be pretty tricky and time consuming.

Looking at the diagrams of the rear end that CTP sent me for part numbers, it will probably be quicker and easier just to remove the whole thing, if theres not a how-to thread for this I will get some pics of this when I do it myself.

Just ensure to get a sheet underneath bumper - saves risking scratches :s

After looking through my Digital Camera pics for ages thinking I'd put these somewhere random I found I'd taken them on my phone so were in a different folder.

These should help, I've got more pics but these two should show you what you get/need to take out to fit them. I took the 2nd picture for this very reason, in case someone wanted to see it, almost 2 years later it's come to good use! :D

Just for reference, the 'looking out of place' part on the right hand side (with the screw in on the pre-facelift insert) is the Jap only part, this isn't there on the UK model due to the numberplate holder.

You can also see the 3 clips on the top/bottom and one of the side which's what holds the insert into the bumper.

Nope it's all as one.
So each side is just 2 parts (big glossy part/grill part + little grill part)

So if this was for the bumper grills you are making, they can't be used together unless you physically modded them with a knife :)

The part that removes that I was referring to in my earlier post is the little part to get to insert tow ring (you can see below):
