I think placed correctly anything can fit mate. I have vw golf ones on my mr2 engine cover. They are nice because they are all chrome :)

I was concerned about the strength of them ,being as the bonnet is smaller

Can you not just let some of the gas out or just use one?

It wouldn't twist the bonnet if you guide the bonnet up it should just sit there. Its only if you let it fly up itself it could cause damage?

Trev is right, there is a very high chance of twist. Our bonnet is not designed to cope with that kind of torsional input.
I am fairly sure that most have a strut each side for this reason.

Is there a reason for wanting gas struts on the front? I couldn't have them on mine because my bonnet is so light it would be ripped in half! I made my own bonnet catch attached to the strut brace on mine. You just need to find struts fitted to a car with a small boot or bonnet so it works. As said I used golf ones on mine

Mine does go up quite forcefully due to it being light and wobbles around a little, the same struts on the back pick up my engine lid + C-One spoiler with only a little help. I just put them on the front so I don't have to rest the bonnet on my head
