Quote from: "paul.mcgrath"Hi Lee , will you be changing the size of turbo to be able to hit 450bhp ? I have the same whiffbitz turbo kit as you and have been told that it needs to be bigger to achieve higher power figures even with a forged engine ??

I'd really be interested in your engine plan as I've been exploring all possibilities ie  forging 1zz, 3sgte , V6 and waiting on the VAG 1.8T swap

cheers Paul

The current turbo being used is rather small, a much larger turbo will be needed, not sure what size Lee is going to choose but guessing something GT32 sized - the forged engine is just there to cope with the additional cylinder pressures the combustion of the additional fuel and air create in the cylinders.

Just watched you YouTube video about charge coolers mate.
Very eye opening.
What AVT barrel did you have?
Good to know the eBay ones are up to the job.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Sorry been busy and neglected my thread   s:o :o s:o

Quote from: "Mark A"Did you think about having the block pinned?

I've been looking into it, had mixed opinions. So not decided yet but have a custom block guard made is still an option.

Mitch is right this turbo is far too small, with the right bits you can push the whifbitz turbo to around 300bhp.

I've not decided 100% but I'm thinking gtx3076r as that would see me well over 500bhp if I wanted.

Cheers Scotte   s:D :D s:D   the eBay one is doing really well.
The avt is 4x8 so not massive but they rate it to over 300bhp. To be honest I think I was creating more heat than I should have been due to pushing the turbo so hard

Since you asked for questions sugestions in your youtube.

What is the expansion rate(c) of the new sleeves
What is the expansion rate(c) of the sleeves walls support, is that from the original block?
Was there anything done to the coolant/sleeve contact surface to increase it?
Is the std one allready waved to maximize contact area ?

Did you even consider only go as low as 10.5 compression but add water injection?
Will you upgrade/duplicate your charge cooler ?

Did you consider turbo profiled camshafts?
Ported heads, so new intake manifold ?

I know its alot of questions, but I was looking for 280bhp/really fast spool or even eletric turbo assisted and optimising a NA engine to turbo can really change from a on/off turd to a daily comfortable/zero lagg car, but all those questions are involved

Hello Lee
Firstly, great build and inspiration so thanks for sharing.

Looks like you have both primary O2 sensors plumbed in the exhaust path after the turbo. Just FYI, that's a bad idea. You should only have 1 there and wired parallel otherwise the ECU cannot adjust properly. It'll probably run ok but isn't correct. Or you could plumb them before the turbo one on either correct cylinder to match stock. Basically use the same cylinders your catless manifold had early in the thread.
Can the emanate correct for it by intercepting the signal? Still not correct or necessary.
Hope that helps.
Again thanks for sharing. Given me lots of ideas and I might ask about you experience with the emanage.

Pretty sure he would be running with the wideband O2 sensor rather than the stock O2 sensors.

Essex2Visuvesi

I believe Lee is running both the stock sensors and a Wideband.... You can see the AFR Gauge next to the glovebox in his videos
The Power Enterprise Turbo Kit uses both stock O2 sensors in the Turbo elbow as well

MrT

#958
Yes, having the stock sensors both in the same combined gas path contradicts the ECU as one bank corrects rich and both banks get a rich signal so both go lean on all cylinders then it goes the other way and rich also and randomly back and forth messing up your fueling and cooking piston rings.

Ask me how I know... Just wanted to let you know before it causes a serious problem.

Does your piggyback fuel according to the wide band or is that just for information purposes?

I'm only using one sensor, I've wired them in parallel. The other one is the wideband for the afr

Cheers Scott.. meet up and a video soon?.. I want to see this awesome engine of yours. I've got a dodgy earth to fix first though. The car keeps randomly cutting out, found it but it's under all the chargecooler stuff and I've been too lazy to take it out so far.

Gave it to a friend to weld up, still waiting for it back.
He'll get around to it eventually. He's a bit slow.

mr cool

I'm totally loving all the work you've carried out, a real inspiration to us all. I'm in the midst of putting a 2zz in at the moment and see that you got some yellow poly bushs for your engine mounts and was wondering where you managed to get them?
I trust the bonnet is going well and the forged engine build is in full swing, looking forward to reading more of your exploits...
