Right so I'm renewing my insurance through Adrian Flux, and I've had a few issues regarding my agreed value, long story short they have offered way less than I asked for.
Has anyone got paperwork or list price for the tte turbo conversion?
Im struggling to prove the cost and rarity as there's nothing to compare against   s:? :? s:?

I did speak to whifbitz and got a price from them a couple of years ago for a drive in price for their turbo conversion which is a similar power to the TTE I think.

This could be a comparable and was about £4400 2 years ago ish?

Don't suppose you got that in writing by any chance ?
Minus the labour charges I expect that would be around the £3000.00 mark, does that seem fair?

It was on an email so I may be able to find it tonight. Prices will no doubt have gone up though.

If you had to recreate yor car, shouldnt the labour costs and set up be included in the valuation though?

I'm with flux and have an agreed value. Take plenty of pictures of your car showing the mods fitted.

That would be great if you could.
When I gave him the cost he asked if I had included labour, I told him I hadn't and he said that was correct. So I presume not.

Did that, sent more pics than they requested.
The problem is proving the worth of the tte setup, to them I guess it's just a garrett turbo worth a few hundred quid  s:? :? s:?

This is from an e-mail I received on 18/04/2015;

Hi Simon,

Total for the turbo kit is £3066 including ecu and map for it. There is a small chance of a clutch being required, so far as haven't had to fit any though, the stock clutch takes it.

Fitting would be £1200 inc VAT.

Thanks

Paul

I am surprised though about the fitting costs not being included because they would have been when having this fitted by the toyota dealer. This is not like just bolting some wheels on is it?

Any chance of finding an original sales brochure/price list showing the Mr T price?

You could do a comparable version with se7en.. they bill £4700 for a walk in service... Supercharger/turbo charger ... I'm not sure an insurer would care about the difference? It's a degree of labor and parts?

That's great mate thanks.
Yeah I'm hoping someone will have a brochure with prices or better still an invoice from sp for the installation on theirs.
Well the valuation is so far off I wonder if the lad may have got confused, if I were to write the car off I would need to pay to have it fitted to another one so surely it should count. I wonder if as it's an aftermarket item that labour doesn't count   s:? :? s:?
Strange thing is s12vea has his policy through them, and he has an agreed policy valuation of more than I asked for no problems, i don't get it!!!

First off this is quite disappointing.
I thought the whole point of agreed valuation is that you took loads of pictures to show condition and mods. You tell them what the car is worth and then they calculate a premium.
If they're going to tell you how much it's worth then it's a bit cheeky.
We all know that TTE kits go for around 2.5k secondhand but were a 4k option from new.

Don't know if this Evo review could help it gives specs and pricing

On the other hand it isn't hard to replicate.
The cast manifold is the trickiest thing to come by the rest of the parts are readily available and piggyback ECUs are pretty cheap these days.
Obviously it would have the kudos of a proper TTE turbo.

How about this one from Autocar

 m https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/to ... -mr2-turbo m

Ask them what value they would agree on a BBR Turbo M X 5?
That's a similar car but much more common.

Thanks scotte.
They sent an email that said i can take it to an independent mechanic (not someone who knows the car) for a valuation at my own cost. But like I said to the lad on the phone, if I don't take it to someone with knowledge of these cars they won't know what they're looking at so the valuation is worthless. I have pm'd their affiliate on here hopefully I can get it sorted.

We should have a club approved valuation process. I would like one to validate and strengthen my cars value should something happen.

That would be nice.

I'm not sure how it works, but I do know someone who does.... The President of the Mazda Rotary Club UK does insurance valuations for Mazda RXs.
I can find out what the process is for you if you like?

You can get an independent valuation from a company like Laird.

Just post it on the Facebook page and they'll tell you it's worth £50.
It's typical of an insurer to want everything in their favour, years ago I was looking at a GLS Sapphire against the Ghia version. Same cars performance wise, GLS with Cosworth inspired sports looks and rear spoiler. Because the Ghia was all leather and heated seats etc they were wanting way more for the premium.
So the same should apply to your valuation, cost to replace/repair to the original standard.

I don't think I should have to pay for an independent inspection if I'm honest. I've paid an additional premium for the agreed value cover as it is. S12vea  got his cover from them without one, so how come I can't ? very confusing as it's the same company.

Tell me about it.
I was raped when I swapped turbo for V6.

Simple fact is that if you need to claim, the fee you paid for a proper independent valuation will have been with it. It takes away the opinion of value argument. Value is as formally agreed.

Thanks for all the help people.
I sent all the info in this thread over to them and they still won't budge.
It will cost a nice juicy 60% of the premium to cancel a 3 week old policy, after they reneged on the agreed value price. Nice work if you can get it.

If you feel they're in the wrong go to the insurance ombudsman.
As always it's better to have all this sorted before renewal time.
Hindsight!

I am not looking forward to quotes on a supercharged V6.
They may turn me down flat.
