Call the midlife!

I picked up 3 points in the summer and although they made no changes when I informed them I'm sure they will come renewal in March.
Having said that I'll be declaring more mods this time anyway so I'll just take the hit as a total.

It's just been a series of crappy events if I'm honest. I took out the policy as I thought the agreed value would be at the amount spoke about with their rep on the phone, and they'd just say ok then charge me the additional premium. But no, they send it off to be assessed and it's at the underwriters discretion. At this point you've paid your premium and they've got you by the short and curlies. Didn't help that their software didn't work and the uploaded pictures didn't reach them, which delayed the process past the 14 day cooling off period.

V6 supercharged mr2   s:D :D s:D  I'd expect it's so niche you will need an independent valuation  s:crazyeyes:  s:crazyeyes:

Usually they've been fine on mods etc (not sure on points) so you may be pleasantly surprised. Agreed value......... yeah not so much

If it's their error they should honour the cooling off period.
I will be avoiding the agreed valuation. It was something I considered before but no more.
I can strip most of the really expensive bits in case of right off anyway.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

They've offered to reduce their admin charge a bit to take into account the software failure   s:lol:  s:lol:    s:lol:  s:lol:

This is all rather disapointing from a specialist insurer.  I am a customer of theirs too, and have just renewed my agreed value policy.  It has taken since early November for them to send the paperwork, process it and return the finalised policy yesterday. On the plus side the premium did not increase.

I changed from Chris Knott two years ago as they told me that they did not offer agreed value policies.   I queried this on their win a free something or other post  this week and was pleased to find they now offer agreed value  policies.  Though I was puzzled when they said they always have offered them...

I will certainly get a quotes early at renewal time, as if Adrian Flux had declined or changed their value rating of my car, I would now be in the same position as Wotugonado as I paid the full premium back in November. I think the Ombudman would have found in my favor as the 'phone records would support me fully, however I don't really want to get into that type of protracted arguement if I can avoid it.

Wot you going to do now Wotugonado?  How much is an Independant valuation? I would expect with a few calls around your area you will find a performance type garage who will be able to give you an accurate valuation.

Yeah, I've declared 2 things mid policy and had an admin charge but no real policy increase, which is why I'm waiting to fit and declare until renewal.
They did increase my premium when they found out about a previous speed awareness course though.

Mr Two - it's a massive fiddle imo, if you were awaiting their decision since November then effectively you've been driving around on a standard policy whilst they've sorted out the paperwork. If you had an accident then you'd have got book price, not what you agreed, according to my understanding of my paperwork.
Greenlight insurance looked at the pictures this morning and offered my agreed value immediately, I've just got weigh up what's best way forward at this moment in time.

You are quite right, I would have been under insured.  I  was continually told - following my'phone calls - that "we are so  so sorry and the forms are being posted today" but of course it turns out that this was completely untrue!

Greenlight is another option, though more expensive in their quote to me.  Still I might forgo a few pounds next time to have better service that will not require five lengthy phone calls and a two month delay...  Have you tried Chris Knott?

Dont know whats happened to flux this year, they're like a totally different company to deal with.
Not the mr2 this time but my missus car, her old one broke, so we bought a new one, had to do a mid term policy change and they hammered us. Nearly £200.00 more than anyone else, including their admin fees.
Wouldn't give an exact figure on the new car insurance premium, told her its roughly just over £400.00!!!!!! got off the phone did the maths it was over £500.00.
£250.00 to cancel the policy baring in mind its only been 3 months and shes already paid 3 monthly instalments, works out nigh on virtually the whole yearly premium  (:< >:) told us the credit company charged a cancellation fee, thats why its so expensive, rang the credit company and was informed that was total bullsh!t they didn't charge anything.
In the end had to involve the ombudsman, and 4 lengthy calls later, got the premium down to what it should be, dont get why they think they can screw over regular customers like this. It's a shame as they used to be really good...... cant see us using them again i'm afraid.

Similar story when I swapped the turbo to V6 mid policy.
Proper abuse.
Interesting story about the credit company and their charges.
I was told the same and swallowed it. So I have basically been defrauded.
They are very lucky I am lazy or I would be taking them to court.
Thanks for the heads up Dan.

I think they know they've got you over a barrel. They know its not cost effective for you to cancel the original premium at 60% cost of total premium, so they try to charge you a higher rate on the new quote (which is obviously over inflated) but less than cancelling the whole policy and starting again elsewhere.
The credit people probably charge the total interest fee, but no cancellation fee.
Even so It doesn't amount to £250.00

ombudsman has a consumer's story on the website, Basically saying that they shouldn't really charge you for more than you've used eg cant charge you for the remaining 9 months if you've only used 3 months. Admin charge of  £50.00 is acceptable but extra charges for something not yet used should be refunded.

It is a long winded faff upto 8 weeks if you pursue it, but really if this has happened to you, it may be worth considering.
Like moneys not hard enough to come by without being held to ransom at every turn.

@Carolyn  the thing is, they're different with with different customer's. A fellow member on here, with a similar spec car got a great deal with them no hassle, agreed value he wanted, no problems.

Then i've had 2 separate issues, where they've tried it on massively  ::) dont get it

Never used Flux as they have never managed to give me an even remotely competitive quote
