I don't know if it's just me on this, but I find it takes a while for the car to warm up. Should it take a while or should it be quite quick and if so how long does it take?

Carolyn

Takes about 15 mins for water temp and twice as long for oil to get fully warm.

It's been pretty cold lately so it does take a bit longer.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

I get some small amount of warm air after 5 mins. Then at about 10 it's hot and gauge is horizontal.

That's about right for the water temp oil takes much longer if you have ever had a gauge to check it.

I know oil takes longer, I do have another car with an oil gauge and not 1 but 2 turbos. 8)

I find takes about 3 miles for temp neddle to point east.

Yes, Foxy takes around 4 miles for the needle to turn east in stop start traffic.

Don't forget that due to the rad being at the front and the engine at the back, the car has over 10 litres of coolant - takes a while for all of it to heat up!

More stop than start if it's the same Salisbury that I remember ;)

Salisbury is ranked 33rd for average speed at around 25 mph.
London somehow is 3rd with just under 15 mph
Cambridge is the worst at 13.73.

This is all based on data collated in 2016

It's ok
Depends on the hybrid.
Some are more petrolhead focused than others.

Thanks for all the replies! That has put me more at ease knowing it takes a while for the car to warm up. Have been so used to a Fiat Panda for so long that it didn't come as naturally to me to see a temp gauge move so slowly  :)

When I leave in the morning the needle is always horizontal almost exactly when I get to my first slip road.
7miles in or 10 minutes.
On my car that's my cue to start opening her up a bit past 3k rpm, then when I get to the next big crossing a few minutes later is when it feels "loose" and I open it up all the way.

In the turbo (on days when I'm allowed it) it's the first slip road, then up to 4k and little boost until 2 roundabouts later and then (abut 17mins in or so) i start to unleash the beast.

It pays off to take this extra bit of care. Oil temp and pressure is so darn important
...neutiquam erro.

Oil temp and pressure so Important with after market turbos.
Boost with cold oil =  :'(
