In my quest to replace my TRD clutch for a more user friendly item, I've been reading that a 2zz corolla t sport clutch will fit and due to it being slightly uprated over standard 2 it should cover the extra torque on my TTE turbo.
Can anyone confirm fitment? I've read this in a few threads but nothing recently.

I should also be able to run my set up on standard mr2 clutch as per TTE recommendation as long as clutch not 60% warn. I would use a new Exedy or Luk
I want the standard light pedal and traffic friendly option of a standard car.

The 2zz option above if compatible would work great for me.

Great stuff
Should there be any fitment issues?

Have they stopped doing the Helix auto sport clutch that was fitted to the SP240?
I thought that was fine.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

None at all. Literally same part numbers aftermarket

Can I ask why we think the 2zz clutch will hold almost 200 ft-lb of torque?
It only has 130 odd to cope with?
Unless the corrolla compressor takes the same clutch that copes with 160 ft-lb so can probably handle much more.

Helix would be my first choice but £380 for clutch kit vs around £80 for standard exedy clutch for mr2 or £125 for 2zz

If a standard clutch will work happy days

Link above for the clutch I'm looking at

A standard clutch will cope with TTE turbo for road use, Arthur is still running a standard clutch

It makes interesting reading back when turbo kits were new territory (2003/2004) many people ran standard clutches and Slacey was running a Hass turbo with 10 psi on original standard clutch for just under 10000 miles with turbo fitted till it gave up the ghost, this included launches and track days.
Fully understand it will wear quicker just don't want it slipping.
My clutch is a bitch in traffic but once on the open road and got a bit of heat it's nice

For that saving it's worth a try.

I've ordered a Luk corolla Tsport / compressor clutch, one of my mates works at Andrew Page and got me a bit of a discount too which was a bonus!
Clutch arrives tomorrow but fitting not booked in till 16th March.
Really can't wait to have a standard clutch again.

Thanks for your input guys

For what its worth Steve, if your tte is completely as originally designed, and not boosting above what was originally intended, I expect it will be fine.  It may be a bit more sensitive towards the end of the life of the clutch, meaning you renew a tad earlier, but Should be spot on and have a nice stock feel. I'm not a huge fan of heavy, fierce clutches myself.

I reckon it should do exactly what you want it to do.

Thanks Nigel.

My thinking behind would be if Toyota say a standard clutch would work "fine" the 2zz tsport / compressor clutch should work and give me the OEM pedal feel I'm after due to higher tolerance levels.

I've collected clutch this morning so no looking back now. I'm going to change gearbox oil to MT90 and change gear linkage bushes to brass ones to help the gear change.

Clutch fitted today and I'm over the moon! Lovely soft pedal feel and it handles boost.

I will report back after a few more miles
