Call the midlife!

Just a heads up for anyone with a view to be changing their number plates anytime soon and to prepare everyone for the need to change them by September regardless.
Google BS AU 145e for the information it won't let me paste into here 🤓

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Doesn't look too much of a big deal.
Unless I'm missing something.

does it just remove the EU logo?  Might be an issue for anyone sporting a flag from a UK country in that space on the current one.

With the logo gone, the digits might have grown again to fill the space available.

Not retrospective, so if you want a 2d/3d set you need to order some quickly (!)
Today
2000 x reg pfl - blue - as original no mods
In the late 1980's
1982 x reg Toyota Corolla Liftback Coupe (also blue)
1978 s reg Mitsubishi Celeste Coupe (yellow)

Quite a few changes if you read it, most won't apply to the majority of people but anyone with skinny stick ons or 3d/4d(?) gel plates or 3d shaded characters will have to change them by September when it becomes mandatory.
Same with any highly reflective backgrounds to fool cameras etc.
Similarly anyone with screw fastenings will have to check they don't fall foul of the new regs.

I see that stick on ones must resist 160hrs of constant pressure to remove. Need to book the week off to change your plates then!

Presumably stick on plates will no longer be legal?

Doesn't seem to mention stick on plates other than they would, I assume, have to meet the same "new" regulations.

Ironically the new regs discourage screw on plates and ask for self adhesive ones.
I'd have to Tigerseal the front one onto the bus, sticky pads refuse to hold onto the front mount.

What with everything else going on, do you think the Police will be that bothered if your plates are screwed on?

It's more to strengthen the regs around putting black screw caps in between other characters to change their appearance and make the plate read something else.

Comes into play with MOTs as well so it depends how closely they look.
But to answer your question, yes, I think traffic officers would be interested if they were feeling that way inclined...

If traffic cops want to make your life difficult it's just another weapon in their armoury.

I'll be keeping my EU ones thanks

Im about to order some new plates for Foxy...I'm undecided to keep it 'stock look' and buy the plates from Mr T or go the custom route.

Ive seen some really nice number plate installations on the forum but am worried about these new regulations - thoughts anyone ?

(off topic slightly - I also really like the screaming chicken bonnet badges too and wondering how they'd suit Foxy)

Call the midlife!

Stick to solid black, no shading and keep to the regulation spacings and you're fine. No coloured borders or backgrounds or logos/motifs but 3d raised characters are fine.

Seen these in a few cars and can't say I'm a fan. I guess it's down to personal taste...

Clearly, this is only for new number plates. There is no expectation that everyone goes out and buys new ones.
I don't have any wish to change font anyway.
