Title: Painted calipers - A quick straw poll....
Post by: Anonymous on October 4, 2003, 20:47
Hi all,

Any thoughts or suggestions welcomed   s8) 8) s8)    s8) 8) s8)    s8) 8) s8)

Noted Phil (and Kris).  - That's the colour of choice for my other half too.

I had red down as a maybe.  It's a shame there's not a wider choice available   s:( :( s:(    s:( :( s:(

Doubt it'd look too good.  You've already got Black (tyre), Silver (alloy) and Blue (Body) around that area... adding another contrasting colour probably wouldn't look too good.

As for more colours, so far I've seen blue, red, black, silver, gold and yellow.  What did you have in mind?

I've obviously spent too much time pacing the aisles of B&Q Phil   s:roll:  s:roll:    s:shock:  s:shock:    s:roll:  s:roll:  - would just like a few variations of the colours you've listed.  I wonder if there's much difference between Moondust Silver and Sparkle Silver....

Aaaaaarghh! I'm turning into motorings version of Lawrence Llewellyn-Bowen   s:shock:  s:shock:    s:shock:  s:shock:    s:shock:  s:shock:    somebody shoot me please.......

I hate Changing Rooms.  The last thing I want to see is Changing Calipers.

MR2blue has blue calipers they look o.k. but he is thinking of changing the colour. I have offered him my gold caliper paint. Blue and gold go great together.   s8) 8) s8)   Trust me I know these things.

Fine.  It's my fault trying to save your poor soul from turning into Lawrence Whatshisname and having to wear those shirts.  There's no pleasing some people.

jumpingflame, it is a silly question but there's no need to be embarrashed, we all started from somewhere.  Anyway, this is my attempt to explain what it is in plain English... A caliper holds the break pads and it's that thing that grabs the rotors every time you hit the break after trying to take a roundabout at 50mph but you see a police car waiting at the next exit...

From what I hear, krisclarkuk's car does not have any calipers. He has to use various kerbs to stop.

I used to think that black with white lettering looks cool but the more I see the Carrera GT, the more I like them yellow with black letters...

Considering the size of the rims, them be monster calipers.

Simple silver with black letters looks good IMHO (or the nice blue that you can get with Brembo kits with white letters)

Not too in your face - nice and subtle.

Well i own a Red roadster, not sure what colours to go for at the moment. My ideas are below:

1) red with black spyder sticker
2) silver with red spyder sticker
3) yellow with black spyder sticker

Any suggestions?   s:roll:  s:roll:
Title:
Post by: Slacey on October 7, 2003, 19:50
I'd pick option 1.

Have you thought of black with white spyder sticker?

If you don't fancy that, option 1 might indeed be the better one.

Change the colour! Genius, you're thinking outside the box!   s:lol:  s:lol:

I guess i could always be different, paint the calipers in a "TVR" flip paint.  I could have all the colours!   s:P :P s:P

Alternatively i could stop eating these smarties, i think they're messing with my head   s:roll:  s:roll:

Who me? The car on my picture has a Trial bodykit.  I want one more than anything in the world...

Anyway i've decided on Red calipers with a black logo.  I'm getting my Spyder logos from Adam (GT 300) this sunday at the Jap Magazine meet at Santa Pod   s:D :D s:D

I have red calipers with my red 00 and they look good!

But i have done research into the flip paint for the calipers and they dont do it as it has to be heat resistant and if they did you would have to spray it and have it do profesionaly ! so the price will rpobobl be around £200 just for teh spray without the paint !!!!

not good when it ant gona last under the heat !
Title:
Post by: Anonymous on October 10, 2003, 14:47
What you really want is that paint that changes colour with heat, I think you can get calipers for the misti evo that do that.

very expensive mind.

I have seen that heat resistant colour changing paint on a motor bike exhaust. If i remember correctly it starts black & then goes throught the spectrum until it finishes red.....or was it the other way around  s:?: :?: s:?:      s:? :? s:?

It looks awesome but costs the earth.
