Title: MR Midship Runabout Valve cover garnish Done !
Post by: Dev on December 25, 2006, 05:47
This is the way our cars should have come from the factory!

This new engine cover is based on the original and it is very generic to appeal to all people. Further more with falling in the line with the "it should have come form the factory" appearance mod.

My philosophy is to add substance without making it look customized so that it gives legitimacy to the car.

This unit is all quality and there is no flimsiness to it like the other cheap one sold for other cars and in fact it is more solid then the original.

When I first thought of having it done I knew it would look good but then when I installed it in the day time with the engine bay open it looked incredible as if the MR2 was an exotic. Another words it does more then just sit there as it has presence.

Also one can see the midship wording through the vents.
I will have different paint schemes and such and it will be on sale very soon for $70 shipped and I will find out how much more it is to ship out to you guys across the pond .

Please let me know what you guys think.

Hey thanks guys. As far as the color schemes go you will have a choice of standard silver which you can paint yourself you own customized colors.

The themed colors will be what ever you car color is and the letters will be the painted the color of the soft top of the car. This is an extra service of $10 and just so you know and it will not be painted to be an exact match but something very close to it to keep costs down.

This service and the cover is my gift to you guys for the price I am offering to show my appreciation for both communities.

Actually if you guys want to claim the first ten you may do so now then I will designate a paypal address and PM the fist ten people. The reason being that I am too busy to set up anything for the next two days because I will be busy making the TBLV for all those that ordered. I want to stay on top of my projects but as far as the MR garnish goes these are a stright shot.

I will have 10 of them for the first batch so please claim them now. you will be shairing these ten with the Spyderchat folks so they are going fast.
I will set myself up in the sales section soon.

I know that some people have expressed interest and are ready but I need absolute comitment so on this thread please claim your cover to reserve a spot for the fist 10.

 Thanks
 dev

Great to see you producing another quality product dev!

Please add me to the list for the standard silver (unpainted). I'm on the list for the TBLV, so I'll pay for both together, if that's OK.

Merry xmas and a happy new year.

This is what I got so far and I just found out that I don't need an import license here in the US so that's why I only initially wanted to get 10 under the radar but I found out today that all I need is a tax ID which I have so its not a problem anymore.
I don't want to keep people waiting for this so I am just going to raise the bar to 20 initial orders then put in the order so that the turn around time is minimal.

I did not include some people who have replied because I don't know their full intention so if you wanted one please let me know now.

Thanks guys I somehow knew that this would be a big seller but I had no idea I would sell this many in such a short time.

I will be collecting payment on the fist of January with the inauguration of my new company.

Sure no problem. I don't work I study to get licensed for my profession  but I have put that on hold for some time now.  don't worry about the work because I have a dedicated partner to help out with these projects and another partner exclusively for the keyhole covers and soon gap covers.

I am starting up two companies and we will see where it goes from here but so far things are looking good and I will continue to make some other cool projects for our cars.

Sure thing. I will have a website up and running in which you will be able to place your orders in a cart like how most vendors do it.

I will PM people on both lists after the new year with the link so you can place your order. I will be able to combine shipping and such when you order both.  Only those that are on the list who were fist will get their order sooner than those that come later on this list. If those that are on the list do not pay for their order in one months time then it will be first come fist serve.

Hi Dev,

I'd really like a black one with red lettering, (as black car, black roof not an ideal combination!!   s:lol:  s:lol:  ) but if this isn't possible, then just put me down for a standard silver one..

Cheers..

Guys there are two spots left.

I have placed a big order of Engine covers and Brake light visors. I should be getting them in the second week of January and they will be shipped out promptly.

I have also changed what I plan to do about the paint because I dont have the time to paint the letters.

I will paint them solid colors and you guys can paint the letters. There will be colors for you guys to choose from. The price for painting these colors will not raise the price as there will be no coustum paint fee.
The price will remain $70 shipped US and what ever extra it cost to ship the cover to you guys.

Here is a sample of colors avalible. There is a ceramic aluminum color that looks good. I plan to paint mine a dark gun metal. Most all of the paints are high heat ceramic and look good.

 m http://www.duplicolor.com/products/colors/highheat.html (http://www.duplicolor.com/products/colors/highheat.html) m

I am holding a contest on here and spyderchat for the best painted cover.

Those that enter for the best painted cover will recieve a refund on their cover.

Im also entering the contest and the people will vote on both forums and I will tally the results.

No it doesnt but the high heat ceramic paints look good and stick very well without any fadeing and chiping.

I was  making some keyhole covers today and my keyhole cover partner Josh painted the valve cover.

Josh likes the valve cover and thought it was quality. Anyway here are some new pics of the valve cover.

its one of those awkward things,

i'm always up for giving a hand, but as people are so spread out (benefits of an international forum) its a case of chatting and then have a go yourself.

if you need any advice spraying there is a guide on spraying valve garnishes in the appearance section (i posted it)

Quote from: "bossman23780"just though i would ask the question about fitment

I'm presuming its a straight swap because ive never really looked at the current covers on the car already?

 It is a straight swap with no issues. But I must mention that one of the holes where you use the plastic fastener  is a little off but you can still press in the fastener in without any problem.  I  am only mentioning it because;

 1. there will be someone that will comment about it when its not an issue at all.

And

2. because I want to be upfront and honest about that small flaw because I know something about it but apart from that you will think its silly for me to mention it after you install the engine cover without a problem.

I will test each cover on my car before it is painted and sent out.

Also just to let you know the engine cover is much easier to paint then the brake light visor. Its so easy even a Monkey can do it and I will be offering it in different colors and then you can paint the letters like my friend josh has done or just paint over the paint I provide and start over.  Just spray and let it dry and thats it.

We sent out many many visors and engine covers today. I am very sorry for the long wait as I had many road blocks but now its done and I have to thank each and every one of you for being patient with me and I attribute that to my service with the keyhole covers otherwise I am sure you guys would have raised hell with me.

nelix I found your order and I stopped it so that I can exchange it with a 1E3 visor like you requested. I should have that out to you next week when I finish making the 1E3 visor.

I am now working on a new memorabilia project since I am a bit free and I will not be making it but my design specs will be made and anyone that values the Spyder should like it.

Hi Dev,

The order was for a valve cover (painted), not a visor.  I ordered one previously but you had to refund the order due to some confusion on here, so I then ordered again as a replacement.  Sorry for any extra confusion!!

Just about to put mine on and wondered if anyone has used the foam padding from the stock cover or have folk just replaced it as it is?!
Title:
Post by: rtbiscuit on April 15, 2007, 15:25
i was planning to transfer the padding over form stock to my new one when i'm done. to protect the coil packs from water.
Title:
Post by: Anonymous on April 15, 2007, 15:28
Yep, thats what ive done, just pulled it of the stock cover but got no glue , so ive stragically placed it where they should be and placed Devs cover on top, should do the job!

Kool! dont forget pictures!

Ive just been thinking the covers would look nice if they had the actual valve cover underneath powder coated like what Gregg offers over on SC!
Im thinking when i get the internals done on my engine, i will get this done aswell, just for vanitys sake!   s:) :) s:)
Title:
Post by: rtbiscuit on April 15, 2007, 16:11
vanity!   s:D :D s:D

i wouldn't be putting in all this arse ache if it wasn't for vanity. i had apinted it once alreay and have changed my mind on what i was doing because it didn't fit with my long term vision for the car.

so stripped it all back, removed all the letterig, and started again.

this is the last time i do it. and will b chuffed that i have something that no one else will have.

i hope you don't mind dev, but i have somewhat butchered your original creation, what do you think.
Title:
Post by: Dev on April 23, 2007, 03:02
I dont mind at all. Actually the engine covers make a great platform for any modification since its made of fiberglass.

 I think it looks great.   s:D :D s:D

Damn RT !
Is that all paint?? or is the lettering stickers??
If it's all paint you've got a talent bro! You should put it to good use.
Title:
Post by: rtbiscuit on April 26, 2007, 23:11
wish i could say it was all paint but i know my limitations, the red and white back ground is all paint.

the TRD stuff are a decals the scroll lettering is vinyl, and the large TRD is a car decal.

saying that i think i can recreate any of the vinyl stuff as we have a vinyl cutter at work, just not used it yet. (advantages of being a Tech teacher)
