dont want to sound like a bore, and my that car looks nice, but would this not have been better to post in the "pictures of members cars" thread?

makes it easier to find stuff if its in the right place

oh, and you had better watch out that the feds dont catch you with that number plate AND windows that dark, its a traffic cops dream at the mo.

legal issues aside, it does look the business. and that celica aint bad too.

nice one, i am more than happy to stand corrected.  the windows are a bit dodgy though. i know that the rozzers have a new toy for measuring the amount of light which can pass through.  as a result im sure they will be super keen to use it.

one is oil temp one is watertemp, they are apexi i think. . . cant remember actually, the windows are not dark from inside mate! they a new tech tint, i forgot the name of that too lol, solarsomething or the other
Title:
Post by: Anonymous on June 1, 2007, 18:30
They are tinted. They are darker than stock from the inside. 'Tech tint' or not, they're still frickin' dangerous at night, especially in a car like the '2. I drove a Clio 1.8RS a while ago at night (mate's car, he was drinking so I drove him home) and that has much less tinted windows than yours AND better visibility due to more windows, and it was still scary as hell driving it back! Sorry to go on, but it's a pet hate and is just about one of the most dangerous chav add-ons you can get hence the reason I'm glad that the police are going to be clamping down on it!

Besides the tints, the car does look very good. See, I'm not all bad  s;) ;) s;)
Title:

Its called a Lux meter and if caught by the boys in their police cars you could be sitting at the side of the road picking it off the windows before you are allowed to move, never go to Southend on Saturday night with them, not if you want to keep them on the car anyway.
I like the look of your car, but along with the others - not the tints.

So what you are saying is that you know they are illegal but your personal preference is to go ahead and break the law anyway?

What would your  "personal preference" have to say if your reduced vision at night caused an accident that injured or killed someone due to your illegally tinted side windows?

A bloke at work got stopped for his tints last week on a Soarer and had to rip them off before he was allowed to go on. They used the Lux meter to check the light level and they only just failed.

Well with all the comments aside your 2 is looking nice  s:) :) s:)

I especially like the stealth look of the Celica ...simple and nice, while looking a bit mean  s:) :) s:)

Your pictures show two plates - which one are you talking about, if its the tiny one - something to consider - if you car was nicked then that couldn't be read by an automatic number plate reader - thus diminishing your chances of the car being recovered.
Title:
Post by: Anonymous on June 2, 2007, 10:40
hmm quite true liz. . . markiii my trd kit cant take a normal sized plate look at the recess and that square one is ugly imo, ruins the whole car from the front . . . and tbh if my car gets nicked its not likely to be driven around, probably get stuck in a container back to japan
Title:
Post by: Liz on June 2, 2007, 10:44
Its got to be driven to the container and ANPR's are everywhere!  Its down to you, of course, but you asked for opinion - if you get caught with that on you will get a Fixed Penalty notice for failing to display an index plate - £30.00 and the inconvenience of going to an MOT station- even though you have one - it isn't legal.

What size are the wheels? are they 18s? and do they rub through excess diameter / width / incorrect offset?

Rip his arm off!!!!!!

Whats it against? a 20k fiesta?

Seriously, 4.5 seems a tad low, maybe a bit of a gentle armtwist from mr T??? but 7 seems too high from a dealer for it not to be against a loaded up price on the car you were thinking of pxing against.

What size were the lensos? I am just trying to make a mental note of other reasons why they didn't fit aside from your car being lowered -

like
- they were massive and 18"
- They were massively wide up front 225+ 7.5j etc
- They were a strange offset
- Your car was just too damn low!
Title:
Post by: uktotty on June 11, 2007, 22:55

forget about the police, with the tyres, the were 215/45/17, offset of 35 if i remember correctly, the part x was a small dealer against a s2000 (which i wont get insured on and its not a good idea to get a faster car) but i would want atleast at the bear minumum 6500, is this reasonable?

[mod] In fact - regardless of whoever the word was directed at (police, or otherwise), I personally don't see a need for that kind of language on a family board that should be without prejudice.

To that end, I've removed it from the posts it showed up in (I think, unless I missed any).

This is a family board (yes, there are members here under 18 ), and if you want to talk like biggotted chavs you really should find another board. [/mod]

Just for clarification on my post, 'naughty police' as in the ones you get in trouble with and 'fashion police' for excess RICE etc. No innuendo intended - in fact I thought 'fashion police' was a standard joke among friends for questionable taste - is it not? - so i am perplexed and sorry about the course it has taken on subsequent posts.
