Title: My Silver PFL 1999 MRS Track Toy (N/A)
Post by: HFB on March 31, 2016, 17:19
Hi All

Bought my MRS back in Aug 2015 with a view to having some fun on the track

Wanted it to be standard inside to use on the road in the summer months, but still have a bit of track preparedness about it.

It is a 1999 PFL MRS import in Silver, currently with 65,000 miles on the clock.

The modifications/work I have done to date include

Mattperformance chassis Brace
Markiii pipe
Meister coilovers
Yokahama AD08R tyres (PFL 15" wheels)
Stoptech larger front brake disk
Stoptech braided hoses all round
Stoptech brake pads all round

Everything else is standard aside from a few decals and painted tow hooks front and back   s:) :) s:)

Only thing left I'm planning to do is have it lowered to a decent height for track and road and have it aligned properly with Abbey Motors in Caterham on Monday.

Great little car and now just planning to have some fun with it as cannot justify paying out £3K for a turbo kit or £4K for a 2ZZ swap out.

Where is Abbey motors in Caterham? I've heard of Abbey Motorsport in oxted and then the Abbey Toyota in Redhill, didnt know there was something in Caterham?

A decent garage or a back door type one?

They are a family run business who have got a reputation for Japanese performance cars. Loads of Skylines, GTR's, GT86, 350/370Z's and the like in and out and being tuned up, uprated all the time.

Whilst I was in there, I saw one of Steve Baggsy's drift cars in there having a full race tune to his latest 400hp monster mob car.

They're not a glossy showroom by any stretch of the imagination, but the guys in there know their stuff on performance Japanese cars.

I've used them for my brake upgrades and now for alignment/set up and will no doubt be using them when I next have some money to spend on my ickle hairdresser car.   s:) :) s:)

Ahh makes sense, yes I emailed them about my geo, they seemed rather knowledgeable actually and told me not to bother with certain things instead of just taking as much money from me as possible. As they are a bit closer than the other geo specialist I know, I reckon I will give them a try when my car gets back.

Wow, that's very pretty for a shell! Could be a great local garage if they get to know the 2 a bit better!!

Bit of weekend fun with a Plastidip rattle can (Gun Metal) and some HT Caliper paint (in situ paint job whilst awaiting proper, refurbed set to be finished and fitted)

Now sold to a very nice French chap who has bought it for a friend as a track toy.

That was a lovely, reliable, great 1st Roadster.
