Hey all, I'd like to buy some new tires for my stock wheels (mr2 roadster '05). The best ones seem to be summer tires. Do you guys change your summer tires to more suitable winter tires as winter approaches, and it starts to get colder? I would prefer avoiding doing that. Any recommendations on great performing summer tires, that can still be used in the winter?
A good set of tyres in the correct size and pressure will be fine all year round. Just make sure you drive to the weather conditions.

You'll rip the ass out of a proper set of winter tyres in the mild UK winters.
There is no need for winter tyres here. As S12 says.... drive to the weather conditions
Ok, not my daily driver, but, it was still out at every opportunity last winter on the yokos.
Much, might depend on how norf or sarf of Sunny Leicester you are.

Really saddens me the number of 2's that get wrecked & written off being driven too fast in poor conditions
Tyres are a tricky subject, buy the absolute best quality you can afford and drive according to conditions, if the tread is getting low even more so
Depends where you're driving, I think.
I used to do a weekly drive over the Cairngorms and winter tyres were essential (on any car, not just an MR2 ...) for four to six months of the year. If you're actually driving on snow and ice, proper winter tyres will make a massive difference. If you're not ... and you're just driving on normal UK roads in normal UK weather ... don't bother.

Agree with the above.
Winter tyres only needed if you live in the proper north, Scotland or high lying areas.
I live just inside the south east corner of the M25 and have used Yoko AD08R through the winter with no issues with significantly higher power output than stock.
Drive to the conditions and respect the mid engine rear wheel drive layout.
Don't change the tyres to the winter conditions, change your driving style for the winter conditions.

There are of course exceptions.
R1Rs or other track slicks are not suitable for winter, regardless of where you are.
If you in the Scottish Highlands.. Snow tyres make sense.
All else... Just drive to the conditions.. As said
