Title: Fuel Pump Upgrade
Post by: 1979scotte on December 30, 2017, 10:37
When upgrading the fuel pump what do most people go for?
A walbro 255?
After numerous searches I can't seem to find a kit in the UK specifically for our cars.
They seem to be available for the Toyota engine Lotus.
Possibly the 1.8 Celica.
Will either of these work?
By the time you add shipping and tax MWR is too dear.

I had a Walbro 255 installed when my V6 was done originally. It wasn't as quiet as stock, but did the job. I had intended going supercharged with that in my plans at the time, but never got round to doing it. AFR was always in the 10s at higher revs, even with stock injectors.

Lee has a good video on it. It's a walbro 255. Needs a tiny bit of Stanley knife work on some of th plastic to fit in the stock casing but all in all it works out.

Nigel I think I am still running stock 1zz pump I will get Headcase to check.
If it is original may as well change.
I know stock pump will be fine with 4 X 440 injectors but not sure how it will cope with 6 X 360.

I shall check out Lee's video.
I can't help but think something for the Elise should fit straight in.

Do any of the aftermarket fuel pumps overwhelm the stock FPR? Fitted a Walbro to my RX7 which then ran richer due to a slightly higher fuel pressure, then upgraded to a Tomei 276 and had twin Bosch 044 on the cards - doubt the 1zz will need anything more than the tiny 255 though!

I doubt I will need anything bigger than a 255 either and as I don't have stock FPR anymore with the V6 shouldn't be a problem.

At yes - guess you don't have the returnless 1zz fuel rail anymore!!!
