Title: Single din stereo fitment with Fascia adaptor - experiences and advice
Post by: Roadster150 on February 14, 2018, 12:17
Hi -

Recently got a pioneer x7800 DAB to go in and have been gathering everything I think I need to fit. Went for the following fascia kit (ordered auto leads one, this is what came - looks the same?):

https://www.scosche.com/00-toyta-mr-2-rav4-kit#product_tabs_features_tabbed

I've watched a few different videos and guides as to how to remove/install but before I start ripping bits out of the car, can anyone confirm two things for me which have me confused?

1. Do I need to remove any of the tabs / fittings from the fascia kit?
2. I rescue the side mounts from the Fisher Price stereo - do these screw directly to the h/unit or to the h/unit cage?

Any other handy tips more than welcome.

Thanks! Itching to get this in  :D

1. If it is the same as the pic then the top and bottom tabs need to remain - the middle ones can be removed. I would check it against the one you take out and match it up. Or match it up against the screwholes when it is removed
2. Direct to the HU - no cage needed

You 'might' need some fillers on the sides - the fisher price HU is wider than the normal DIN/Double Din replacements. The bracket you have may be enough. Something like these (but can be found cheaper with a bit of searching) - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00T5IOFOA/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I224QO10UPT1TM&colid=JDBSVSK3PRBI&psc=0

Where are you based? There may be a local member who can 'oversee' any work
