yes they will, as they'll be consistent IMHO with the other black pieces of your car. I've got a silver MR-S with black side vents.......check pics on my website s:wink:  s:wink:
Is that a Frog or Toadster s:lol:  s:lol:
lol - toadster, i like that s:) :) s:)
i like the black on your silver car bud. hopefully lots of people agree it would be a good idea or someone is good with photoshop and gets a good pic of green one and lets me see what it would look like
where you get your chrome dial surrounds, cost?
Don't Know if its relevent but I've the yellow car, black Mudflaps and hardtop and black 17"s and currently waiting on 03 black side vents, also waiting to fit smoked side repeaters. Proper little bumble bee me, even though its not everybodys cup of tee. Will try and post pics when Ive recieved and fitted all my bits
Would like to see pics KJ, i'm quite liking the two tone effects going on !
I'm currently thinking about adding some RED Badges, vents, seats and hardtop to my BLACK '2
I love it but its a bit of a marmite (either like it or hate it). Nobody likes the black alloys though and there the thing I like the most! Promise I'll post pics in new year when the vents land and I've got off my arse to fit the smoked side repeaters. Also waiting on a package from Dev so that should be fun too.
Is there a gallery where we can post pics or should I just stick it on a thread?

I was looking over a brand new Lotus Exige in Yellow with black alloys etc the other day and think it looked awesome s:shock:  s:shock:

Yeah, the Elise in gunmetal with black wheels looks great. So does, ahem, a Sable '2 with metallic black alloys... s:roll:  s:roll: Now, I wonder where I got that idea from? s:wink:  s:wink:
hey guys back to the topic, which is ME!!! lol s:D :D s:D

Nah, I don't think you would look good with side vents. s:? :? s:? s:D :D s:D
Simon
Have you pics of the car that we can have a look and then hazard an opion I've never seen a toadster.
Black's gonna look poo IMHO.

Silver's good to match with the wheels/lights.
Red to matched calipers! s:shock:  s:shock:

But naturally it's whatever floats your boat. s:wink:  s:wink:
I have got a set of silver for sale on my bits and pieces thread!!
hhmmm im not sure now, i like the look of both the black and silver, if it makes any difference i have the hardtop as well so alot of the time the car all green (no black roof)
HELP ME PEOPLE!!!!
could you put the vents on reserve for me liz so i can see if can get cash?
Reserved!
For what its worth i think the black looks class
Nooo, silver is much nicer! s:wink:  s:wink:
I think black looks best, but maybe cos the alloy looks dark in that picture!! Hmm, can see why your having troubles, not an easy one to decide!!!
Buy mine and get them sprayed green!
these poor vents are going to get a personality disorder with the amount of colours they've been sprayed s:? :? s:?
I have a pair of 03 chrome ones somewhere if you would like to try them on a photoshop
Pete
Hi,
I would be intersted if anyone has a set of post 03 model vents, any colour, i can get sprayed.
Personally i think the Silver looks the best Reddi or go Green
I also like the look of the silver ones. Red is a definate no no s:? :? s:?
nah red is def a no no lol, i like the black ones in that pic but thats cause of the soft top also being shown i the pic , but alot of the time ive got the hard top on so would look totally different.and as someone said the alloys in that pic look blackish but mine are the stock silver ones
plus i think i like the silver vents now after looking at things like clio v6
The red reminds me of those Rover 200 BRM things of a few years ago.
Oh how much I wanted one of them s:oops:  s:oops:
are the vents easy to fit, do my old ones just pull out and the new ones clip in?
Quote from: "reddi"are the vents easy to fit, do my old ones just pull out and the new ones clip in?
Yep - pull them out by the leading edge first (ram your fingers in there and yank,
hard) - you'll either find the clips stay in the car or in the vent, one or t'other s;) ;) s;)
The trailing edge is held in via some 'U' shaped moulded thingies on the vent, for want of a better description, so put the back edge in first when installing the new vent.
yank hard does work however 2 issues.
1. the post 03 vents have been known to crack.
2. the sheet metal they clip to is incredibly thin and is very easy to bend.
my preffered method is a plastic kitchen spatuala worked down the front of teh vent.
if you take your time you can pop each plastic clip without bending or breaking anything.
ok cool thanks markii.
if all else fails ill see if local mr t will do it quickly for me
well ive now jsut bought liz's side vents (the cars, before anyone gets smart) s;-) ;-) s;-)
now just the decision when i get them of do i leave silver!!! i think i will, even though mudflaps are black rekon ill leave vents silver as you dont realy notice the flaps anyway.
guess ill just see how they look when in and then go from there, hope hey look good in silver though as the less i need to do to them the better
forgot to ask but are the new style vents same as old ones with the plastic grill like bit to stop leaves etc getting through?
yep!
Quote from: "fg"The red reminds me of those Rover 200 BRM things of a few years ago.

They used a orangy front air dam that many owners sprayed silver to match the wing mirrors etc. I very nearly bought one a few years back; they were good little cars IMHO s:shock:  s:shock:
anyone got any links to full walkthrough for fitting as realy not sure about it as dont wanna end up breaking or damaging anything on the vents coming out or going in.
and mt local mr t wont do it without booking it in and paying a good bit
I like the black. It's like pre-03 stock only... better.
wel i got the silver ones from liz as the more i looked, i only liked the black i that pic as the wheels look black and also the softtop is black, but my hardtop is normally alsways on and normal silver wheels.
silver ones just arrived at home so about 5 o clock ill realy see what i think of the silver ones on the car and be sure to post some pics. if it doesnt work i can also get them black or green
well went to try and fit the vents there but wasnt much movement and didnt want to break anything, is it the left or the right side i want to try and pop out?
Quote from: "reddi"well went to try and fit the vents there but wasnt much movement and didnt want to break anything, is it the left or the right side i want to try and pop out?

??????
if you mean which edge comes out first when fitting them then its the front edge with the poppers on them
oh well there goes that idea, the vents i got are cracked and broke in places and dont fit right, they are loose and move about.
anyone selling any more vents,?? or know the price of brand new ones?
£41.00 from w www.japanparts.com (http://www.japanparts.com) w - Look under exterior - other (no pics unfortunately) this is where I purchased my from only took a week to sort

Are you referring to the ones you purchased from me? s:shock:  s:shock:
And if they are loose, it sounds as though you haven't got the clips in place properly.
I found these ones, will it fit a 2002 roadster?

Yes they will!
I've seen a cover style that gets on top of the current side vents and the result is a different side vent (looking).
Have you even seen something similar ?
I want to know if it's widelly sold or if it's custom made.

Yeap that's the one.
Is there any online eshop selling it?
A couple spring to mind

Jeebus, have you seen the cost of those things!?
*picks self up off floor*
C-One stuff is hextremely hexpensive..
Ok thanks.
It is trully very expensive for what you get.
What you get is proper carbon fibre stuff which, I imagine, is not cheap to get to this shape. Still expensive though.

yeah they ones, nah its not the clips its the plastic on the vent that is cracked so not holding it properly.
my new ones should be here in this week or so, cant wait to finally get some new vents on
bloody clips broke. anyone got a pic of the clips for the side vents so i can send an e-mail so a friend so he knows what they look like to go in and order?
searched web and cant find anything, so pppppllllleeeeeaaaassssseeeee tell me one of you have a pic on pc or something s:cry:  s:cry:
lol
I'd be interested to see pics of the broken clips..
not got a camera to upload them mate. and when im trying to tell my mate what ones to get the garage just keep telling him there are 6 types
Didn't you get new ones? They should come with the clips.
nope i just got the vents no clips, my mate thinks he has managed to pick right ones and ill collect them on fri and with any luck have some pics up of them on the car
well i now have silver side vents on and they look great in my opinion.
ill get some pics up 2mo to see what you guys think,
thanks liz for suggesting silver s:) :) s:)
not a major thing but one of the vents at the bottom kinda bends out from the car, doesnt stay flush like the top, is there any super strong tape or maybe a kinda glue i could just touch into the inside of vent and hold against car till bonds?
i'd be careful glueing the vents to the bodywork as you will need to remove them to get to the drains from time to time
yeah i was thinking of that. any strong car body type tape you can think of then, only wanting to put a bit on the very bottom to hold that in

thats a typical issue when they aren't quite in correctly.
thats what i thought buddy but ive checked and they diffinetly in correctly. its not that its sticking miles out or any thing, just comes out a bit further than body of car,
trust me you need to get teh bottom lip in first or it will do this.
so you rekon take it back out then put the bottom clip in first?
yep
ok ill give that a go today and update you 2mo
Quote from: "markiii"trust me you need to get the bottom lip in first or it will do this.
I can confirm this. If the lower lug is not correctly hooked over the bodywork, the vent looks as though it's fitted okay, but just stands a little proud at the bottom. Reddi, did you see my response to your query on mr2oc?
i did bud and it was very helpful, thanks very much.
well gona have a go at refitting my vents on my lunch in 10mins so ill let you know if im succesful
You told me that they were broken s:?: :?: s:?: Oh well, glad that they look ok.
god i love you guys (in a totally non gay way) lol
you were right and they now sitting perfectly fluch with car, pics to follow in 10mins.
Liz - good news, a friend of mines is into arts and crafts and making stuff etc and melted the platic bits that were cracked and added a little glue and now everything seems perfect, not pretty on the backside but who cares as you never see that s:o :o s:o )
so big thanks liz they look sweet
Good, look forward to the pictures!
well here you go guys, i know its not everyones taste but people always say each to their own and i love it. and it looks ALOT better when its clean but doesnt stay that way for long with this weather im affraid.

ok blonde moment, colour code headlights?

That looks wicked,
How do you do that? Remove the glass or somethin?
Quote from: "ghollis_84"How do you do that? Remove the glass or somethin?
Yeah, first take out all the screws, then put the whole unit in the oven to some 125C for +5 minutes (I put it in for 5, tried, put it in for another 2, tried again), which will soften the glue and you can get the "glass" off. Then just paint, let it dry and heat it again to make it stick.
Here's another:
m http://www.spyderchat.com/phpBB/album_pic.php?pic_id=90 (http://www.spyderchat.com/phpBB/album_pic.php?pic_id=90) m
In the oven, i would have never have thought to do that, i will see how daring i am to put my lights in the oven, is it the whole ligh or just the plastic bit and the glass not the bulb etc.
Believe it's just the lens and the housing. (Unplug the bulbs and loom.)
Just a quick one, could you solve the problem of condensation in the headlights this way?? I.E takes the glass out dry it out, then re-seal?
Peter - do you have any leak/condensation problems with yours, now that you have opened them up?
Yeah, take everything off that you can and put just the plastic case and "glass" in there.
Quote from: "extremeMR2"Just a quick one, could you solve the problem of condensation in the headlights this way?? I.E takes the glass out dry it out, then re-seal?
Probably. Or you could try drying it through the bulb hole with a heat gun or hair dryer or alike and see if it comes back.
The thing is, I've put some ultra Bright bulbs in, which seems to dry out the condensation, but then it reappears.
I'm wondering if the seal is buggered, and if I heat up the cluster and take it apart to reseal it, whether that would fix it?
I head of this problem being apparent with the '2 but the only fix I've seen on here is to get the lamps replaced. (Very expensive option)

Yes, many have, you can find them in the stickied bodykit-thread on top of this area s;) ;) s;)
I assume anyone selling japanese parts can get them, like japanparts.com s8) 8) s8) Erebuni also makes cheap copies of those.
thanx Tem
I will have a butchers
ok guys i know this an old post but just wondering latly if i should be changing the side vents to same colour as the car or not? just wanting to get some opinions on having them silver? alot of people have told me looks good with hard top on but they aint so keen when soft tops up
dont want my car looking silly so open to all feedback. Pics above if you aint seen it
IMHO, they look out of place, if you wanted a contrast job then perhaps something similar in colour to the stock but slightly off the stock colour could look ok, its the same effect i went for when i stickered up the car for JAE last year
so you saying they be better either being close to stock colour ie the gray plastic ones or put same colour as car
rekon im gona get some new ones from japanparts as with taking the ones ive got in and out some of the clips are cracking. so if im getting new ones whats best to get if im gona be getting someone to paint them. options are
Choose color: White(#040), Gray(#1E3), Silver(#1E7), Black(#202), Red(#3P0), Yellow(#576), Dark green(#6R4), Blue(#8M6) or Light blue(#8R2)
pity they dont do 6S1 or id be sorted s:o :o s:o )
no i meant the stock body colour not the grey plastic
oh LOL
what colour you think easiest to paint then?
i'd paintshop it first
think im the only person in the world that doesnt have photshop lol
nope neither do i and as you can see i dont even know what its called properly
Actually paintshop pro and Adobe Photoshop are 2 different progs.
You can download a demo of paintshop pro to play with.
Now getting the skills like Darth Paul takes a little more time!

Quote from: "SimonC_Here"Now getting the skills like Darth Paul takes a little more time!
amen to that, Pauls skills are second to none
so what colours of the above ones i can buy the vents in do you rekon whould be easiest to paint over?? or will that not work?
Quote from: "reddi"so what colours of the above ones i can buy the vents in do you rekon whould be easiest to paint over?? or will that not work?
pass i'm afraid, your best bet is to talk to a paintshop, unless someone on here knows better
I would have said the paler teh colour teh better
but other than that
