yes they will, as they'll be consistent IMHO with the other black pieces of your car. I've got a silver MR-S with black side vents.......check pics on my website   s:wink:  s:wink:

Don't Know if its relevent but I've the yellow car, black Mudflaps and hardtop and black 17"s and currently waiting on 03 black side vents, also waiting to fit smoked side repeaters. Proper little bumble bee me, even though its not everybodys cup of tee. Will try and post pics when Ive recieved and fitted all my bits

Would like to see pics KJ, i'm quite liking the two tone effects going on !

I'm currently thinking about adding some RED Badges, vents, seats and hardtop to my BLACK '2

I love it but its a bit of a marmite (either like it or hate it). Nobody likes the black alloys though and there the thing I like the most! Promise I'll post pics in new year when the vents land and I've got off  my arse to fit the smoked side repeaters. Also waiting on a package from Dev so that should be fun too.

Is there a gallery where we can post pics or should I just stick it on a thread?

Black's gonna look poo IMHO.

Silver's good to match with the wheels/lights.

Red to matched calipers!  s:shock:  s:shock:

Hi,

I would be intersted if anyone has a set of post 03 model vents, any colour, i can get sprayed.

Personally i think the Silver looks the best Reddi or go Green
Title:
Post by: heathstimpson on December 19, 2005, 07:47
I also like the look of the silver ones. Red is a definate no no  s:? :? s:?
Title:
Post by: Anonymous on December 19, 2005, 08:23
nah red is def a no no  lol,  i like the black ones in that pic but thats cause of the soft top also being shown i the pic , but alot of the time ive got the hard top on so would look totally different.and as someone said the alloys in that pic look blackish but mine are the stock silver ones

plus i think i like the silver vents now after looking at things like clio v6

are the vents easy to fit, do my old ones just pull out and the new ones clip in?
Title:
Post by: aaronjb on December 19, 2005, 09:28
Quote from: "reddi"are the vents easy to fit, do my old ones just pull out and the new ones clip in?

Yep - pull them out by the leading edge first (ram your fingers in there and yank, hard) - you'll either find the clips stay in the car or in the vent, one or t'other  s;) ;) s;)

The trailing edge is held in via some 'U' shaped moulded thingies on the vent, for want of a better description, so put the back edge in first when installing the new vent.
Title:
Post by: markiii on December 19, 2005, 09:57
yank hard does work however 2 issues.

1. the post 03 vents have been known to crack.
2. the sheet metal they clip to is incredibly thin and is very easy to bend.

my preffered method is a plastic kitchen spatuala worked down the front of teh vent.

if you take your time you can pop each plastic clip without bending or breaking anything.
Title:
Post by: Anonymous on December 19, 2005, 10:08
ok cool thanks markii.

if all else fails ill see if local mr t will do it quickly for me
Title:
Post by: Anonymous on December 19, 2005, 10:37
well ive now jsut bought liz's side vents (the cars, before anyone gets smart)   s;-) ;-) s;-)

now just the decision when i get them of do i leave silver!!!  i think i will, even though mudflaps are black rekon ill leave vents silver as you dont realy notice the flaps anyway.

guess ill just see how they look when in and then go from there, hope hey look good in silver though as the less i need to do to them the better
Title:

anyone got any links to full walkthrough for fitting as realy not sure about it as dont wanna end up breaking or damaging anything on the vents coming out or going in.

and mt local mr t wont do it without booking it in and paying a good bit
Title:

I like the black. It's like pre-03 stock only... better.
Title:
Post by: Anonymous on December 23, 2005, 15:52
wel i got the silver ones from liz as the more i looked, i only liked the black i that pic as the wheels look black and also the softtop is black, but my hardtop is normally alsways on and normal silver wheels.

silver ones just arrived at home so about 5 o clock ill realy see what i think of the silver ones on the car and be sure to post some pics.  if it doesnt work i can also get them black or green

I've seen a cover style that gets on top of the current side vents and the result is a different side vent (looking).

Have you even seen something similar ?
I want to know if it's widelly  sold or if it's custom made.

well i now have silver side vents on and they look great in my opinion.

ill get some pics up 2mo to see what you guys think,

thanks liz for suggesting silver   s:) :) s:)

not a major thing but one of the vents at the bottom kinda bends out from the car, doesnt stay flush like the top, is there any super strong tape or maybe a kinda glue i could just touch into the inside of vent and hold against car till bonds?
Title:
Post by: kanujunkie on January 9, 2006, 09:00
i'd be careful glueing the vents to the bodywork as you will need to remove them to get to the drains from time to time
Title:
Post by: Anonymous on January 9, 2006, 09:09
yeah i was thinking of that.  any strong car body type tape you can think of then, only wanting to put a bit on the very bottom to hold that in

I can confirm this.  If the lower lug is not correctly hooked over the bodywork, the vent looks as though it's fitted okay, but just stands a little proud at the bottom.  Reddi, did you see my response to your query on mr2oc?

Quote from: "ghollis_84"How do you do that? Remove the glass or somethin?

Yeah, first take out all the screws, then put the whole unit in the oven to some 125C for +5 minutes (I put it in for 5, tried, put it in for another 2, tried again), which will soften the glue and you can get the "glass" off. Then just paint, let it dry and heat it again to make it stick.

Here's another:

In the oven, i would have never have thought to do that, i will see how daring i am to put my lights in the oven, is it the whole ligh or just the plastic bit and the glass not the bulb etc.
Title:
Post by: Anonymous on January 10, 2006, 14:18
Believe it's just the lens and the housing. (Unplug the bulbs and loom.)

Just a quick one, could you solve the problem of condensation in the headlights this way?? I.E takes the glass out dry it out, then re-seal?

Peter - do you have any leak/condensation problems with yours, now that you have opened them up?
Title:
Post by: Tem on January 10, 2006, 16:46
Yeah, take everything off that you can and put just the plastic case and "glass" in there.

Quote from: "extremeMR2"Just a quick one, could you solve the problem of condensation in the headlights this way?? I.E takes the glass out dry it out, then re-seal?

Probably. Or you could try drying it through the bulb hole with a heat gun or hair dryer or alike and see if it comes back.
Title:
Post by: Anonymous on January 10, 2006, 16:59
The thing is, I've put some ultra Bright bulbs in, which seems to dry out the condensation, but then it reappears.

I'm wondering if the seal is buggered, and if I heat up the cluster and take it apart to reseal it, whether that would fix it?

I head of this problem being apparent with the '2 but the only fix I've seen on here is to get the lamps replaced. (Very expensive option)

Yes, many have, you can find them in the stickied bodykit-thread on top of this area  s;) ;) s;)

I assume anyone selling japanese parts can get them, like japanparts.com  s8) 8) s8)  Erebuni also makes cheap copies of those.

dont want my car looking silly so open to all feedback.   Pics above if you aint seen it

IMHO, they look out of place, if you wanted a contrast job then perhaps something similar in colour to the stock but slightly off the stock colour could look ok, its the same effect i went for when i stickered up the car for JAE last year
Title:
Post by: Anonymous on April 24, 2006, 13:45
so you saying they be better either being close to stock colour ie the gray plastic ones or put same colour as car

Actually paintshop pro and Adobe  Photoshop are 2 different progs.

You can download a demo of paintshop pro to play with.

Now getting the skills like Darth Paul takes a little more time!
