Misted headlamps and the MOT

Quick question after a search didn't yield a conclusive answer.

Booked in for an MOT next week but in the last few weeks one of the headlamps has inevitably started to mist-up.

Is this an MOT failure?

If so I guess its time for mirrors and hairdryers etc. etc.

I've never had a clear response from testing stations about the misting and how it relates to fitness for purpose re. the MOT.

So, still no conclusive answer - sorry.

Plenty on cracked  and duff bulbs, but not on misting. I suppose it depends on how bad it is and how alert the station is. A quick punt with the hairdryer should see you through OK - worked for me the past 3 years - just a pain to lift the under-bonnet cover  s:? :? s:?

Quick update:

Well it passed ok without getting the chance for a de-misting session.  s:o :o s:o
I did have the lights on for a good hour on the way to the garage though.
No mention of it by the tester so I didn't want to bring it up just in case   s:oops:  s:oops:

Hi I have the same problem and was told it would only fail if the beam shape was effected by the misting, it would also fail if there was any corrosion on the reflective parts.
