My CAT has a hole in it, on purpose?

Guys,

bit of an odd one this, my 3" race cat as supplied with teh Hass Turbo always had what I can only describe as an L shaped handle comign out if teh top.

presumeably a hanger?

so since it was in teh way of teh exhaust wrap I angle grinded it off.

unfortunately I then discover it's hollwo and that the hole goes down into teh cat.

the handle was in fact hollow all teh way and capped at the end.

I've sealed teh hole with a bolt and some exhaust sealant and hopefully this will be ok.

Just wondering if anyone knows why my cat would be like this in teh first place?

How big is it? Could it be an anti noise measure, similar to the helmholtz  or quarter-wave resonators fitted to intake systems?

maybe 6-10mm diameter about 3-4" long

Hmm, Looks like they just used a bit of tube rather than a bit of rod to make the hanger. Weld it up and dont worry about it...
