just wondering what you guys think about the crower stage2 f1 cam, i wondered if it would be possible to have on my car, i dont think i would need any other upgrades i.e spings, etc, but with me having the TTE ecu i dont know if i could fit the cams?

is it possible or is it a no no? ...

you have a high comp small capacity engine, stock cams are by far he best for off boost performance

so is that a no? would it mess the settings up to much? would the gains be to small to justify? ...

... or at the end of the day, its up to me   s:? :? s:?

Given the extremely specialised question you are asking it is highly unlikely that anyone has any experience in order to answer it.

I would suggest you speak direct to Crower for advise, but even then I doubt you will get an answer to your specific situation.

i already have, well i spoke to mwr and they mentioned retuning or prehaps a power fc but they dont understand what the TTE setup is a bout, by the fact i couldnt retune the ecu but i wondered if the car could handle the cams with out editional software?!

Since you're running what is effectively a piggyback system onto the stock ECU, and it's fixed - I'd say at best you're unlikely to get a great deal of benefit (certainly in £/bhp terms), and at worst you'll move peak VE out of the range that the ECU can adjust for and end up actually making things worse - or running lean and lunching an engine.

The TTE must already be quite near to the edge of the envelope considering it's running stock injectors IIRC.

Few have bought these at SC. They are good, IF you can change your tune accordingly. Stock ecu can't seem to handle them, so forget them unless you're going for a programmable computer as well.
Sure you can live without 500hp, but it\'s languishing.

I'm no expert, that's for sure, but I have read somewhere that they may affect the idle - make it erratic - and the car prone to stalling. Don't take this is gospel though.

I'm sure the more aggressive NA cams will do just that, are you sure you didn't rear the thread about them?

This thread was about the FI cams, they don't have crazy degrees, just more lift.

You could well be correct.

I wonder how much bhp the stage 1 Cams would be expected to gain: They do not require upgraded valve springs.

So i've been thinking about these FI cams again, seeing as i no longer have the TTE piggyback, but im still not sure what cams can do for my car and how easy they would be to retune! and what gains i could see! also i think i read on SC that you have to raise boost to make these work better?! but i wont quote that!!

Any one got any ideas?

i remember readin someone used them and iirc they had a programable ECU and the intake CAM had problems getting a reliable tune, but the exhaust one worked well and they just used the exhaust cam and put the STD intake CAM

if its the guy i think youre talking about then he had just the N/A stage 2 cams whereas i'd be looking at the FI stage 2 cams! theres two guys that have the cams i want and they didnt recommend the ones you mention for that reason!

Already answered on SC, but here we go again.  s:D :D s:D

Stock ecu has idle issues with these cams. It tries to idle too low and sometimes it stalls when you floor the clutch pedal. Other than that, they are fine with the stock ecu.

No issues at all with PFC.

I thought it wasnt a piggyback but the TTE one is?!

Matt's just told me thats its a Unichip! So what would that mean for tuning?
