Key Pad operating the car alarm.

just got my car back, after it being of the road for 6 months, my car alarm has seem to have gained a new feature since the battery went flat i suppose.

i have never been able to unlock my car via the the KEY PAD, it locks, but doesnt unlock, i use to be able to use the kEY to unlock it, now when i use the key to unlock the car, it seems that the car alarm is trying to go off, i say seem, because my indicators lights start flashing which it neve did before but no sound comes out, i believe the previous onwner may have disconnected the horn, as i know he diconnected the engine light which has been resolved.

ive changed the battery on the kEY PAD but i still cannot get it to unlock via the KEY PAD. it locks but doesnt unlock, can anyone help or point me in the right direction pls.  s:( s:(
