rear brake light cleaning

Has anyone took the rear brake light to bits to clean it up .
mine was filthy around the edges ,cleaned it up a lot but it could do with splitting in the oven to do it properly

remember not to put it in the oven if it is a gas one!!  s;-) ;-) s;-)
