stereo fault?

i have the standard double din sony sony on my 2. today i noticed the stereo keeps switching off like the power is being cut to it. the stereo is not resetting as all my pre sets are still there. i have checked the rear connections and it all seems pretty tight and correct.
anyone else had this problem?

Is the mast going up and down as it 'switches off' and back on again?

I removed the mp3 wire from the rear of the HU and it is working fine now. The connect2 lead is causing this fault.
