WOW that looks amazing and the price is unbeleivable it looks every bit as good if not better than the one weve just fitted to mine and we payed £425 to supply and spent 2 days removing the old one and fitting the new one. Glad you got it sorted Buddy.

That looks VERY good. Having seen your old hood l'm sure you must be more than pleased with the difference the new hood makes.
No pictures of the hood down, does it fold earlessly?
I hope you make as good a choice for your new seats, which are now a must have to go with the smart hood!

Quote from: "ducatiross"the upholstery man said "alcantara is rubbish and I won't work with it"!

I couldn't disagree more. I had a car with half leatehr half alcantara and those seats were awesome. Good level of grip, looks great. Having an alcantara centre also means you dont burn/freeze your ass (depending on season).
Also... Toyota thought it was so rubbish that the TF300's have half and half

Perhaps he has had bad experiences working with it. Doesn't mean it is rubbish.

I know what you mean StuC and I would agree with you. In his view, the alcantara looks ok for about a year then starts bobbling. Maybe it's where he gets his materials from and a different (perhaps better) supplier wouldn't suffer from this. Haven't ruled it out though, nor having an all-leather one.

You guys who have got all leather on standard seats - how do you find it for getting too hot and support ?

Quote from: "Two's Company"Nice work. What are you going to put on it to keep it protected and clean?

Over the weekend I gave it two coats of Hood Protector by TurtleWax. I was going to use Autoglym but couldn't find any in my local Halfords. Raymond said use Fabsil, the stuff used to waterproof tents, so I might try that.

Quote from: "tomaky"you can adjust the clatches a touch to make them initially easyer to reach the clasp.

How do you adjust the catches tomaky ?

Quote from: "tomaky"just had idea as it seems hoods are becomnig more common to replace probably going to start a thread hoods the lot, as i know people have gone for different companies, for differerent prices and in different colours.

Good idea tomaky - like the other stickies with a catalogue of pictures and colour combinations, as well as suppliers and prices. Would be very useful for people.

I wouldn't adjust the catches, mohair needs a bit of time to stretch, it will be quite quick in this weather. It's doing it some good being tought

Thanks E ! Glad you like it. Hope yours went well too, even if it did take you 2 days to fit - mine would look like an abandoned tent at Glastonbury if I'd tried it !! Hence, I let a pro do it.

The new hood doesn't have facilities to fold the 'ears' in - they just lay flush out the back. I decided I preferred this because I felt it would leave fewer creases and keep the hood in better condition when folded.

The clatches have a hex length on a thread this adjusts the length.

I believe adjusting the clasp still gives the same end tightness, it simply extends the clasp so to initial get it on the catch is easier. I think... hehe

I personally don't have any issues with it getting too hot, and I find them plenty supportive enough.

There is a small plastic locking tab on the hex nut, undo the clasp pull the locking tab upwards, it's hinged them adjust.

I new i wasn't a complete spoon  s:) :) s:)  make sure the tab goes back as if it doesn't it wont let you close the clasp, mine occasionally pops off.

Like moorx I like my leather seats and they were on my want list when I bought my 2. However I can understand your apprehension as I had leather seats in an early Ford Focus and had to hang on to the steering wheel to prevent sliding off the seat! This does not happen to me with the MR2 seats.
Best try a test drive if possible, have a look at the member location map and see who is near you!
