Unless you're on a promise, then you'll go all night.
Positives to be had in every situation.

Cant wait to see what the finished arches look like. Was planning on getting some myself  :D

Happen to have a link for the wide arches that you brought mate? Saves me time measuring and finding right fitment.

J03

Might be a way off being finished yet, just want to get the wings cut & things mocked up for now.

Ebay item number is 192347846048   ;)

Time to clean up the crusty rear knuckles. Hubs out, brake shields binned & abs sensors butchered  :) Jesus H, those things don't half seize to buggery.

A few passes with the wire knot attachment & into a bucket of DEOX. Once completely de-rusted, they'll be off for new hubs, bearings & bushes.

Just a query, have you tried getting replacement bushes for them yet? I was reliably informed that Mr T don't do replacement bushes for the rear hubs, although you can get aftermarket ones but the sleeves are slightly wider so you might need to drill your arms out.
Obviously you probably know all this already with your massive nut and bolt pile...

The spherical bushing is a bit experimental at the moment, sleeved to take the OEM 12mm bolt (pics below) but no reason why it shouldn't work.

For the fixed bushing I'm using FEBEST TAB-123.

Saucy! I only know because I had the conversation with Paul at TCB the other week, prior to ordering the Hardrace arms. The old bushes felt ok so I've left them in place but I'll have a choice to make if and when they need replacing.

If the spherical bushes are a no go I'll just order a set of 42210-14010 from Toyota & see if the sleeves work. If not, it's time to drill out the Battleversion arms  :(

Yeah, the Hardrace arms came with the pillowball at the inboard end but if the hub bush goes I'll probably end up with the aftermarket bush and drilling out the Hardrace the same. It'll all depend on cost effectiveness at the time, a new hub could work out better when the time comes.

I've been showing more people at work this build thread... what's been happening??

J03

Apart from another boat load of nuts & bolts for the engine mountings, sweet FA matey   ::) Busy time at work, so this has taken a back seat.

Should hopefully be getting the rear hubs & fuel tank finished off over the next few weeks, at which point I'll throw up an update.

Or as it is otherwise known.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Update time, lots more bits on & fettled  :)

All my lines are properly routed now & bolted up, bigger job than first anticipated! Made up a bit of a DIY bracket to hold the front unions, as don't have the facility to weld them cleanly, but it's relatively tidy so I'm happy.

Front is all built up with UR lower bracing + big brakes cleaned up & fitted. That UR brace is a pig to fit!

Cut myself some lightweight carpet to tidy the floorpan a bit & fitted new handbrake cables (hope they bloooody work!)

Decided to have the rear knuckles shot blasted in the end. A good coat of phosphoric acid, primed, painted & new blueprint bearings/hubs/polys fitted. All on now with sparkly battle version arms & all new fixings etc.

Finally, been test fitting panels & fettling engine mounts, rear brakes are next & then maybe, just mayyybe I might get her on the ground  :D

It is honestly beautiful to look at how clean and "new" everything is! Well done!

Cheers buddy  ;)

I can confirm that the above sleeving of the spherical bushing works by the way, so no need to drill arms out to take 14mm bolts.

Nice work on the brake lines, I had to do mine with all the stuff in the front in-situ.

Replicated some of the original curves and bends just for the sake of it :)

Yeah the fronts weren't so bad as they could be done off the car using the old ones to pattern, just fiddly when it comes to tightening everything up. Can't have been much fun in-situ though!  :(

It was the rear brakes & clutch which was a pain in the ass, thankfully the kunifer line is relatively pliable.

It's great to see this builds progression over the last 3 years, you had a bumpy moment a long while back now but credit to you for hanging on in there

Cheers chaps.

Aye, the wobbly bottom moment seems like a long time ago now... although I've had a few similar moments since then!  8)

Put the doors back on yesterday & bolted up the wheels, it actually looks like a car again.
