Scott's box should be fine. It isn't the stock gearbox, it is a modified S54 box from a Mk2.  Not sure of the ratios in that actual box, but S54s tend to be shorter geared than the stock Roadster box, stronger too, from what I have read over the years. Certainly a tough box in the V6 that I had, some years ago. The torque curve is nice and smooth too, with no spikes, so that aids the mechanical sympathy.
As to driving on the road, it should be tremendous fun, with that spread of torque. Driveability will be first class. Couple that with a soundtrack, no 4 pot can match, and its pretty much spot on!

And to be the pedantic nerd, don't forget different gear ratios between 2zz & 1mz unless using the same box, which will give the 2zz a mechanical advantage lessoning the torque difference to the wheels. Not by alot and probably mitigated by less gear changes in the 1mz with longer gearing. Just food for thought. No real argument against that graph though...

S series 5 speed no problem proven to cope with 3sgte and 2grfe engines if you treat them with respect.

No idea about gear ratios what I do know is that a stock 1mz makes more torque at idle than a 2zz does at peak.
No replacement for displacement.
The joy of a 2zz is that it will take a bar of boost on stock internals.
Not something a 1zz or 1mz can dream of.

Fly wheel numbers @ 6psi.
@ 7 psi she was making these sort of numbers at the wheels but was deemed unsafe. Better boost control more fuel and a standalone ECU would see over 300bhp.
