Glad to see you've got it back on the road, you're making a little bit more power than mine (242hp and 232ft/lbs) but I'm planning on getting the exhaust y pipe redone and water meth injection so I should catch up [emoji12]. Be sure to get yourself over to a Kent run soon I'm looking forward to having a good look at this beast

Best of luck mate.
Do you really want more grunt?
240 in a MK1 will be eating MK2 turbos no problem.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

I know what you mean especially with a car that has no driver aids and stock sized brakes, but I just want to make it as good as it can be without adding more boost

Home.
It's bloody quick.
Too quick for the road if I am honest.
Makes some interesting noises.
And the rear dampers need firming up because she squats down like an American muscle car under WOT.
Can you turn the boost down for everyday use / wet road conditions ?

On Angelo's it's a definite no.
TRD blower only changes pressure via a pulley.

On mine ATM it's practically a no. I could manually turn the boost down but it's a pain.
If I had electronic boost control it would be very simple to lower the boost.
I am looking into having my DET3 PIGGYBACK control it. Should be possible with a solenoid.

Well I have bought a boost controller for the turbo conversion and Patrick is going to see if he can make it work with the stock ECU.

I am just going for a mild upgrade in torque to cure the flatish mid range 3000-6000rpms. Hopefully reaching 180-190bhp ...Nothing like yours. That much power would scare me silly, but each  to their own and yours is as unique as they come...a yellow rocket ship.

If he can't get the ecu to work, I'll also have to go down the det3 and piggyback route. I need it to be a fun and reliable as it will be my daily car ...rain, shine or snow!!

My wallet is feeling the pain in the pursuit of madness [emoji22]

chasmundo

angpozzuto - I think I might poo myself in a mk1 with that much power and stock brakes. I already have to stand on my brakes hard in my standard mk1 when I am hammering it.

Maybe the saying "with great power comes great brakes" is more applicable than ever in a mk1. At least the mk3 brakes feel as good as a modern car.

Enjoy and be safe

I understand your pain but I've got to say that for the money it's silly not going for a Det3.
I was going to try and use the stock 1mz ECU and go low boost but for 150 quid why not. It's safer and makes more power.
Got to say that if you want it to be your daily driver and reliable doing it on a really tight budget might not be advisable.

I am just dreading Patricks call telling me just that !!

I am slowly resigning myself to det3 + 2zz injectors....its nearly pay day

chasmundo

Can you send me a link to the injectors you bought for £150 in case I get that call from Patrick.

I've thought that a few times about vechicles I owned, usually just after purchasing, or adding some extra ponies.  Its a feeling that always went away!
1MZFE, Emerald ECU, LSD, BC coilovers, custom middle & front under brace, F / R strut brace. Slotted discs & yellow pads, Blue flame exhaust.
Carrera leather seats, Davids bars, Focal subwoofer & voce speakers & bling !
TRD Stage 2 F & R spoilers,  Haltezza bonnet, C1 side vents, JDL rear panel

Pretty sure the feeling will go away however the Speedo and the smell of the breaks pads won't.
Not had it up to 6 psi since the day I bought it home. 5.05 psi just now.
Love the noise. Not the V6 the Rotrex. It just sounds so futuristic.

I don't think bigger brakes will make a huge difference, if I can lock up my current tyres braking force isn't the issue grip is the problem
This is what happens when I had to stand on my brakes on an airfield day, I went from 100mph down to 30mph and scrubbed 4mm of rubber off them

What are they? AD08R? Really like them on the road never taken mine on track.

I am thinking nankang nsr2 or federal 595rsr if I can find the right sizes.
If not Toyo R888.

Also what pads are you using?

Yeah they're ad08r, I've never taken them on a proper track day I've just done a few airfield days at north Weald on them and they are awesome. What tyres and sizes are you running on yours?

If you went to FL 16" rear wheel you may get less tyre "squat" under acceleration?

Easily done.
For future reference Angelo's car is a MK1 with a 1mz V6 swap and TRD SUPERCHARGER.

It wasn't the tyres it was the dampers they're in a very soft setting.
I have FL wheels in the loft but I will wear out these tyres first.
Even then not positive I will go to FL wheels so much more playful on the smaller ones.
