Another fill up 26.8 mpg.
More motorway and fast A roads but some toe down and town driving mixed in.
This period of wet weather has shown me how careful you have to be with standing water. It's not like I am new to AD08R but have been caught out three times in the last week only had my foot down once. Be careful.

I don't have that problem with my Toyos.  LOL!

How does boost control work on a Rotrex? Are you bleeding off intake air after the compressor? Are you using a MAF?

Yes basically.
We recirculate to keep the MAF happy.
We vent boost after the charge cooler before throttle body.

If the recirculating metered air never actually reaches the engine at/beyond that boost isn't that going to still cause MAF issues, unless you specifically remap for it?
Won't you have to pick a single boost curve, do a full remap for that and then just stick with it?
If so you might as well just use a different pulley, but maybe with a restrictor to get the boost curve you want?
Or perhaps a MAP based system would help?

Edit. Just had another thought, will the Rotrex (or the MAF) like having boosted air recirculating into the inlet tract upstream of the compressor, that may well cause some problems of its own? (Also when you lift off the throttle from high boost you may suddenly briefly be blowing air back out through the MAF.)
Having a look at other solutions on the Internet, people seem to vent to atmosphere with this system?

As far as I am aware with a piggyback ECU and a MAF I have to recirculate.
Don't want to use a restrictor and certainly don't want to change pulley as I want to make as much boost as possible as early as possible.
That's why we went with a much larger Rotrex.

Hopefully get EBC fitted this week and a larger bov too.
Will vent boost much better more control hopefully.
Then maybe we will put the DET3 into fuel implant mode and have much greater control over the fueling and ultimately be much safer.
Possibly do a MAF delete and go purely on MAP although that may not be possible.

So if you do all that ^ will it be much more betterer?

Are you planning on using the BOV (under control of the EBC) as a wastegate to recirculate the boost, or installing something else in addition to the BOV?

The bov already does this.
Will just be much more precise with larger diaphragm and EBC.

We now seem to have a leak.
I am thinking oil.
Don't think it's rotrex traction fluid pretty sure that is blue.

Still averaging about 26mpg.

EBC being fitted Saturday.
Hopefully get to the bottom of this oil leak too.

Got myself some Shell Helix 5w30 Fully Synth from eurocarparts.
On special 19 quid for 5L.
It's the Vauxhall/Opel/GM spec but don't think that matters to a 20 year old engine.
Also there is a chance I will get the car weighed on Saturday too which would be nice.

Fitted larger bov and EBC.
It's as bad as ever.
And over fuelling massively to boot.
Back to the drawing board.

Injectors too big? Doesn't seem to be mapped correctly.

Ah aftermarket forced induction... Good times. Good times.

Hope you get it sorted. Standalone next step?
...neutiquam erro.

1979scotte

A bit of fault finding.
Probably back on to the rolling road.
Put the det3 into fuel implant mode for better injector control if the injectors dont require too many amps.
Try a good quality wastegate maybe.
More learning.
Will keep trying.
If worse comes to worse will get a smaller pulley.

@1979scotte
Can the system run without the b.o.v ?

No it will over boost the engine and damage the compressor.

Ah ok.
In my limited understanding doesn't the system lose metered air using a bov

Yes, could be bleeding air all the time but maf/map not know and over fuel.

This is very likely.
The det3 is setup with the original 25mm bov the new 44mm bleeds air much quicker.
Knew it would make a difference just not how much.

Found a boost leak.
This actually makes me happy because now I'm not guessing why she is over fuelling.
