What about something like the Helix that we recommend for 1zz turbo?
I would think that you would be within the torque limit on the 2zz.
It has a lovely light feel.

Think I am aiming for an ACT TC2 G6XT which should hold the torque on my 1zz turbo build but might be able to just about get away with a TC2 XTSS one but only just.

Overkill for 2zz surely.
It was only making 250 ftlb wasn't it?

Another idea could be stock 2zz compressor clutch.
Don't want to go overboard the clutches get really heavy.
And noisy Richard had a clutch on his turbo that sounded like a bag of bolts.

There's no 1ZZ clutch at Helix... so is that the Celica 2ZZ clutch you'd be aiming at then?? If so, which plate? The 70-3853 or 76-3853? (road vs race)

Definitely keeping an eye on these things for the turbo build :)

Agreed, people over spec their clutches massively.

I had the ACT - TC2_HDSS on the charged 2zz setup with the extended push rod, which is the most recommended & even that would P me off.
It'll be going into the MR2 because it only has around 7k on it, but I may consider swapping out the HD pressure plate for an SP at some point.

You get the usual "man up" or "your legs must be weak" sh*t, but heavy duty clutches really do ruin the lightweight/revvy nature of this type of setup.

As with everything if you can test someone else's first, do so.

Try the 2zz compressor clutch first sure that's what @s12vea went for in the end.
If you call Helix am sure they'll give advice they were fitted to the sp240 kit.

What are the high power clutch options for the 1zz/2zz out there then to hold 300ft/lbs?

I think the 2zz clutch and pressure plate fits both 1zz and 2zz flywheels - its just the flywheel that is different as the crank has a different bolt pattern etc.

You're in unknown territory there not many people have pushed the C series box that hard.
Don't know what Matt had fitted.
S series is a bit easier you can get MK2 turbo clutches to work.

I have the 2zz comp clutch on my 1zz TTE turbo and it works perfect, retaining the light Oem pedal feel.

The helix option worked out around £300 via the £130 for the LUK 2zz comp clutch

I've got an ACT HD clutch in my Datsun and the weight is certainly hard work in traffic, but don't really notice when driving. It's certainly handled lots of abuse so I'd have another on that score.

Years ago, I had an ST205 Celica GT-Four that I liked to do a lot of drag racing with (low 12s 1/4 mile, circa 360BHP), and I used a clutchmasters FX400.
It was awesome. Never missed a beat, and I must have put 200+ 6000+RPM launches through it. Like, brutal, clutch sidestep launches.

After a quick google, they do some 2ZZ clutches here: http://www.clutchmasters.com/1995-2005-1-8l-2zz/
