I can get most parts from my local dealer in Nottingham within 2 days.

The only part that they cant find and it also doesnt appear on the Toyota Parts Locater that someone posted somewhere else on the forum the oher day ( m http://ecom.toyota-gib.com/# m ) is 75599-17020 (Bolt A) which from the Hardtop Fitting Guide is similar to Bolt C (you use one or the other).

Any ideas ?

Also, i havent ordered any parts as yet - found some cheaper on an online parts locator but im waiting to see whether they can get all the parts i need before i order.  If they manage to get them all i will post all the details - may save a few quid more !

I've just ordered all the parts and hopefully I'll get them on Wed.  The grommets are for if you want to remove the stainless steel clips and revert back to the body coloured panels when the top is off.  I'll probably won't bother doing this.

Next I better get panel cutting..........

Did you manage to get all four bolts ok ?  What was the total price inc vat ?

I will hopefully be ordering the parts during next week to fit at the weekend.

Happy cutting !  Let me know how you get on  :-) :-) :-)

Kris,

It was me who gave you all the information - Puggman (Gordon).
I got it from a guy at Spyderchat (Gordon Burrows), so thanks to him. What did we all do before the internet ? I'm sure we wouldn't have even considered fitting hardtops.

I have attached what I think is the list of parts required, if you don't have a donar car that is. If you do have a donar car, you can just swap over all the bits and bobs at no charge.

My blue hardtop is getting re-sprayed this week, so look out for pics soon.

Puggman.

These are the parts connected to the car, all as listed below :-

If you buy a hardtop, but do not have a donor car to remove fixing,
trims and bolts etc......... you will need to buy all of these items
from Toyota.

Although you could probably do without the leather storage bag, which
is only for storing screws and you could also cut-out the hole for
your existing trim panel to accept the fixing post.

Grand total is approximately £228 including VAT (without storage bag
and using / cutting your trim quarter panel).

Please make sure you check these codes and prices as I did not buy
them from Toyota, as I had a donor car to swap parts over.

69431-17011 x1 - RHS support post (located behind seat belt). £70.56
69432-17011 x1 - LHS support post (located behind seat belt). £70.56
58395-17020 x1 - RHS stainless / steel locking clamps (located externally behind folding hood). £22.59 each
58396-17020 x1 - LHS stainless / steel locking clamps (located externally behind folding hood). £22.59 each
69341-17010 x1 - Socket cover on top of RHS support post. £16.79
69342-17010 x1 - Socket cover on top of LHS support post. £16.79
75599-17010 x2 - Bolts (M8X22) for securing RHS support post £0.69 each
75599-17030 x2 - Bolts (M8X22) for securing LHS support post £0.69 each
90148-60056 x4 - Stainless / steel bolts for securing rear S/S locking clamps £0.82 each
63686-17010 x2 - Stainless / steel bolts for securing rear S/S locking
clamps. £0.69 each
62511-17090 x1 - RHS black plastic panel quarter trim (with cut-out
for post). £68.64 each
62512-17080 x1 - LHS black plastic panel quarter trim (with cut-out
for post). £68.64 each
90467-10161 x2 - White plastic clip that attaches to the inside of the
trim liner £0.57 each
63259-17010 x1 - Storage bag £26.51 each

Snap! I've just had my dealer on the phone and they cannot find Bolt A 75599 - 17020 on their inventory.  Therefore I am going to use 2 x Bolt C and it should work.  He reckons that it's not the fact that Toyota don't make them but they are just not on their system.

The same thing is true for the seatbelt anchor point bolts.  I took one out last night and I reckon that they can be reused, the dealer thinks so too!!!

I took one of the interior panels off last night and there appears to be an outline which appears to be exactly the line I will need to cut to enable the Hardtop striker parts to be fitted.  I'll try the cutting tonight.

Some of my parts will arrive tomorrow but the rest will be here on the 9th Sep at a total cost of approx £205.  Now to give the hardtop seller the good news.....

The passenger side of my car is prepped with fixings and ready for the hardtop.  I've done the cutting of the panel for the drivers side too.  I'm just waiting on 2 parts for the driver's side.  Why things don't come in pairs I do not know  s:roll:  s:roll:

Got the hardtop this morning after a quick jaunt to Cambs.  Typical that it had to be such a nice day.

It gives a nice sporty look to the car and cut a lot of road noise out.  I thought I would have to adjust the the striker bars that the roof clamped to but I guess I was lucky first time.  I just hope it doesn't need adjustment for preventing water from leaking in.

I thought it would be heavy but it was obviously a lot lighter than the passenger in the MGF that tried to keep up  s:twisted:  s:twisted:

All in all it was a very easy thing to add to the car if you can source a hardtop.

I am still waiting for one of the chrome brackets.  I took off the side panels yesterday and cut them - as you said, i hadnt noticed that there is actually a "cut out" line so its quite easy!
I havent fitted the locking posts because there was so much adjustment and thought i was bound to get it wrong  :-) :-) :-)   .. so i will wait until i get the last part - hopefully early next week.

Cheers Mark, I'm glad you found the ad for me. I'd never have gone on to the MR2DC site otherwise.

Yep that line did help with the cutting, noone should even think about buying new panels as it is that simple.

You should fit the locking posts now as the adjustment if any should be quite small.  I did that and kept the panels loose so that I could pull them away if need be, that reminds me I think I have to put some clips back!!

I was waiting for the drivers side rear chrome bracket but luckily Mr T 'found' one in a drawer because they had been ordered before for someone else who abandoned the idea.  Fingers crossed you'll get your soon.

i have the drivers side, my supplier has had to have the passenger side bracket sent in from europe.  (i didnt order from my Toyota Dealer i used a company called Turbospares, they were a bit cheaper but have been a bit slow with some of the parts)

When you fitted the locking posts did you keep the bolts central then ?  I was thinking of doing it but didnt have a clue where it should normally sit ?

Yep I kept the bolts central but doing that means that the locking post is at a slight angle anyway.  Keep it central don't over tighten and then when it comes to clamping you can move if necessary.

Were Turbospares much cheaper?  My parts were £205 with VAT (no discount) and then £400 for the top privately.  But I think I need a new camera  s:oops:  s:oops:

Thanks, i will try and fit them now.

Turbospares was about £172.00 (incl £8.00 p&p), but to be honest i would have paid the extra £30 from my dealer to get this all done last week !   :-) :-) :-)

I originally ordered some of the parts through  m http://www.car-parts-finder.co.uk/ m  and it wasnt until then that i was given the details of turbospares and then went to them direct for the remaining parts.

For information the website for turbospares is  m http://www.turbosparesuk.co.uk/trade.php3 m  but if you do decide to use them i would call them (01905 29342) as its much quicker !

I know I can't help looking at my cruddy pics even though the car's shining in the sun at home and I'm here at work.

With Sean's anthracite wheels a black car will look the business.  I really like the old Porsche wheels which had black spokes but the rim was chrome / silver.  My sister had black Revolution wheels on her black mini which looked the part.

I was originally tempted to look into some black wheels for my car but after paying £100 for the J Spec wheel caps  s:shock:  s:shock:   I think I'll stay stock for a while!
