Is the 3P0 red MR2s painted with base or solid paint?

Hi

As far as I can tell my red MR2 is painted red with clear coat.

To my knowledge there is two ways of painting a car:
1. Base coat and clear. Base paint MUST have a clear coat to receive a glossy finish.
2: Solid paint. Does not require clear coat. But can be enhanced with clear if one wishes to.

What is used on our MR2s???

Call the midlife!

Clear coat, red is the worst colour for lacquer peel and probably joint favourite with the yellow for fade.
60% of the time it works everytime...

Thanks for your reply.

I know my car is clear coated. What I meant was: Is it red base or red solid under the clear? The way I see it, it can be both.

And when I ask my local paint store to mix some 3PO for me, the ask me if I want solid or base. I want the same as Toyota used, but I don't know what that is. :)
