Anyone know if alpine cd headunits that advertise as MP3/WMA complient (the ones without the ipod connectivity) actually support the Apple AAC format?.  I have a whole collection of AAC and im reluctant to buy an Ipod if i can just buy a CD Tuner which will play them from a CD/DVD?.

I think the answer will be no.  AAC files are DRM'd.  You can't burn them to MP3 CD directly (I tried - it failed), although you are allowed to convert them to audio CD a limited number of times.  Unless the head unit says somewhere that it will handle AAC files, then I dont think it will work.

You may want to investigate JHymn although using this almost certainly violates your iTunes/iTMS end user licence agreement, as advised on the JHymn site.
