17s will make your car drive less well.

It definitely does.  They're really good looking wheels.

Hi Carolyn

I know the ratio's hence no need for all that but the shell is not an import.
The original turbo build (on here some years ago and I believe you made the return fuel rail for) was an import with rotten shell.
I've looked back over the posts and can't see the gearbox info for it though hence needing to open it to identify.

Quote from: Carolyn on Today at 08:41I'm pretty sure this item is the same as on the 1ZZ.  If so, I've got one or two in my pile of parts.

You're welcome to one for the cost of postage.

Yes, I think it's the same as the 1ZZ also.

That's really very kind of you @Carolyn but I think I'm going to fit a brand new part. The car sees track work, which is high load, and the peace of mind a brand new part is worth it for me. Thank you anyway.

Is your donor car an import MK3 with a 1ZZ?
If so, look on the Chassis plate above the battery.  If it's an import there will be a line for 'Transaxle' followed by a number, which will end in an 'A' or a 'B'.  'A' has factory LSD, 'B' is open diff.
Ratios for that box are well known.

Performance Related / identifying gear ratio's

I bought an import box with LSD which I have on my car now but I found out my parts car has import running gear (engine definitely and probably box)
Understanding there are no markings that give the game away on the casing and I have no idea of the plate on either of the original cars) opening it up is going to be the only way.
Does anyone know the number of teeth on each gear / final drive so I can work it out or would the gears be stamped?
There's probably info somewhere but can't find it!
Considering upgrading the gears and diff going forward but no point stripping an import LSD box - Once identified, might as well sell it and put the money towards the gears.

Alternative is identify and assuming it's an import, keep it and just use it if mine goes

cheers

@Alex Knight
I found that TCB offer Toyota parts at less cost than some others.

Ah - I too, thought you meant the chain tensioner.  I'm sure you can just replace the two parts.  The rest of it can be dismantled, cleaned, greased and reassembled.

You might see what Toyota charges for the parts???  MWR ain't cheap.

Quote from: andibell on Yesterday at 16:49Beginning to wonder if that's the answer.  Really bored with the standard wheels though.

Hard to guarantee fitment if you deviate from the standard setup, even tyres from different manufacturers with identical sizing are likely to fit differently. When I first replaced the tyres on mine the tyre fitter wanted me to sign a waiver for going up one increment on the tyre width incase it rubbed (it didn't).

FWIW I've come full circle and planning to go back to the standard FL wheels once I get them refurbished.

Offset on your 17s will have an impact too, not just for rubbing but these cars seem really sensitive to wheel/tyre setup in the way that they drive.
