Mr T quoted me £350 + VAT for a set of handbrake cables

Does anyone know where I can get then at a reasonable price, or is it 3rd party only?

cheers

GT4Play,  TCB Performance Parts.  Get a matched pair and specify the year.

Gaz mr-s

Unless you think they are overstretched, if they move they can be freed & the rubber ends replaced.

Thanks for the info Carolyn, I could not remember the name of TCB Performance (none in stock), and did not know of GT4-Play, but in stock and ordered  ;D

Gaz mr-s, they are 100% overstretched and no adjustment left (garage did not fit them properly last time or crap 3rd party cables) and with MOT coming up soon, time to get a handbrake again.

Amayama is the cheapest option I found, used it myself a few months ago.

GT4 Play offer "Genuine Toyota brake cables" for PFL at £79.19 and FL at £70.80 each.
Whether or not that price includes VAT is not clear without proceeding to buy but even adding for delivery those prices compare very favourably with those provided to @moredun .
Buyer beware is an old maxim but Buyer be aware when dealing with Mr T seems to be the case.

I do wonder if the adjustment cable itself also stretches.

Just a nagging question I've never found an answer to.

The answer is yes, it would stretch, but as the cable is soo short the stretching would be minuscule and hard to detect.

Fair point.

I was thinking along the lines, smaller gauge than the main cables so likely to stretch first.

I too have ran out of adjustment so something somewhere has stretched.

Can I ask, I take it there were no issues with our customs?
No surprise vat, levies or other duties to pay?

I did not have any surprise but I kept the final amount (including delivery) under the threshold.

Ardent

Thank you.
Will look what the threshold is later.
If going to the trouble i would like to try and make the most of it.
