Post by: justinread72 on October 6, 2015, 17:12
what size have you been running with lowered springs on 16s would a 215/45 be ok on the front and 225/45 on the back ?

I am using facelift 16s all round

215 on the front is massive, I would not go that big.

To keep the stagger, try 205 /45 and 225/45.

And to be honest some say 205 on the front is too big.

I run 205/45 and 225/45 and wouldn't go bigger on the front

I personally love the 205/45 - 225/45 set up, but most opt for 195 - 215

195 - 215 is still a fun oversteering ride at low speeds when you want it.

205 - 225 depressed me daily until I started running stupidly high pressures in the rear and low in the front (40 - 20 psi), to bring back the fun handling.

I still run 225's on the rears now, but my heart lies with the stock / thinner sizes!

We're running 195/50-15 Avon ZV7's on the front. What is the general public opinion on the biggest rears on STD 16" rims?
STD suspension, STD rims, intending to use Avon ZV7'S for the rear.
Looks like 215/45 is still the best option

2254516 works perfectly

I thought that would be a good size, shame AVON don't make ZV7's in that size

The selection isn't great, mine are toyo proxi T1r and I can't fault them.

I guess see what tyres you can get to match your fronts

I'm thinking about getting alloy wheels 16"s all round, but starting to think go for 15" front 16" rear, 185 and 215, I've have the original wheels refurbished about 3 times now and thinking about a possible change of wheels.

Probably easier to run prefacelift rear 15" all round to give you 15X6.5 - there are plenty of 4x100 wheels out there though in a vast array of sizes and offsets.

I noticed that too, what's the tyre sizes for standard prefacelift wheels.

Thanks for that, need to think what's best, thinking of 15" front 16" rear and keeping it standard, just makes it a little harder finding matching alloys to suit.

I believe most would agree that the post facelift setup of 15s on the front and 16s on the rear work best in terms of standard alloys - with a slight bump in tyre width, for aftermarket, people usually go with a square setup of 15s all round but wider or they go for 17s for looks/to clear larger brakes. Best to avoid going with 16s due to a more limited tyre choice, the good news is that 15" 4x100 PCD alloys are readily available so you will probably find it easiest to run with a square setup of 15s all round - or simply buy a spare set of OEM alloys.
