Title: Dashboard layout
Post by: kwnelson on September 14, 2017, 13:48
Having to investigate and repair my drooping steering wheel!    I have removed the lower half of the steering shroud for access loosened the diagnostic thingy and just opposite, on the same level, there is a small switch, can't see what it operates, any ideas?

I'm sure that after 120 days some kind person will pick up on this!   StuC picked up on this thread when he suggested I take a pic.   I have just found out that the flower and blank push switch is associated with the Clifford alarm and is in fact a valet enabling switch controlled by a code.    I have great difficulty when operating the separate fob devise which opens/locks/and acts as an  imobiliser.   I do not know  what type Clifford alarm is fitted.   Can anyone help with instructions

Speaking from experience it sounds like a Clifford Concept, probably a 300 depending on the year it was fitted etc.
My best advice would be to have it professionally removed, if you Google them they're more or less engineered to fail.

So is there still a problem with a drooping steering wheel and then an additional problem with the alarm/immobiliser??

Just noticed this thread and was intrigued as to what a " flower and blank switch " could be and what benefits a Clifford alarm offers.
Google has answered all and "Call the midlife !"seems to have suggested the right answer.

StuC,     Steering column sorted.    Just Clifford alarm instructions required,   but I may take "call the midlife's" advise and get an auto electrician to disable the Clifford alarm.     But if anyone can offer a solution it will be most welcome.   [who the hell wants to pinch a 17yr old strange looking, not so shiny motor anyway?]

Unless it an import.

Speaking from experience, mine had one fitted by one of the earliest owners, the bits that didn't die of old age are piled up in the garage. Including a brand new valet switch that didn't cure on of the many issues with it.

I've still got the instruction manual (I'm fairly sure at least) if you want to have a play with the "user definable settings" that only work when they want to. I can probably copy/scan it, send a photo of pages etc but you need to know the 4 digit valet code.
The biggest PITA for me was having to press the button on the Clifford fob after turning the key to first position.

Ain't got the valet code, car ain't imported, I live in the sticks, [only been burgled once] so I think out with the Clifford best option!
