Title: Buying HT leads for a V6
Post by: Topdownman on December 28, 2017, 12:34
Hi,

Just looking on eby at HT lead sets and they seem to be only 3 in the set.

Does anyone know if thus just means you buy 2 sets or is it because 3 have coil packs on and they are called something else?

Apologies if this is a daft question but any help appreciated!

This kit only supplies 3 leads

Correct engine.
Still none the wiser if you need to kits or not but my.gut says wouldn't they sell them in six packs?

I wonder if you just have to make up 3 leads yourself to the coilpacks to make up the "full set"? I havent looked at the terminals for these leads but presumably one end would screw onto the coilpack end, not sure about the other end though.
I cant see any other reason for only selling 3 in the set and other V6s I looked at all had 6 leads in those sets so I have ordered 1 set of 3 to start.

Twice the power would be nice Stu!

Still can't make sense of it.
Have found 2jz and 3vz kits both with 7 leads so no idea why 1mz would only have 3.

I should have had a set of the 3 leads and sparkplug caps delivered to the office but not been in to pick them up yet.

No further forward on understanding what you do about the leads to the coil packs though.

OK, mystery solved.

The 3 leads go from the new spark plug caps and plug into the coil packs on the other bank of cylinders so yes, just one "packet of three" needed.

Sadly not done anything for my misfire but something crossed off the list.
