Hi all, I'm looking to refresh my suspension on my 2003 MR2, does anybody know of any lowering springs that will only drop the car 20mm?
I was going to buy new KYB dampers all round and go with lowering springs rather than stock, but worried some of the speed bumps (of the pillow variety) I have on the way to work might be a scrape. There is one point where it narrows to a single central road with a hump in the middle for "traffic calming" and there is no way to straddle it.
I did a search and found reference on here a couple of times to TRD springs lowering 20mm, but I can't find them to purchase anywhere. I'm sure I saw a reference to H&R spring somewhere that were 20mm lower, but can't seem to find it again now.
Any alternatives?

Pretty sure Tein Apex and TTE/Eibach all drop the car at least 30mm.
H&R are listed on the mr2ben website as 30mm.
20mm are for the MK2.
Very much doubt you would find TRD springs new.

I am sure there were some used TRD springs up for sale last year. As Scott says, new... forget it.
I was looking for a similar option with my full stock suspension refresh last year, as I didn't go for coilies, due to being a tart and running 17" wheels.
Ah well, thought that might be the case. I think that extra cm could make the difference between scraping or not, even with new dampers. I was hoping not to go to coilovers to achieve a slight drop and better handling having wanted to keep it fairly standard and not wanting such a big up front outlay.
Maybe I'll just have to stick with new stock shocks and springs (and probably top mounts) and hope a refresh will feel better. Pretty sure my shocks and springs are probably original and I'm sure they aren't as supple as they used to be.
Will need to give it some more thought, but been thinking about it for ages and I'm sure the handling has got worse in the couple years I've had it, just seems more unpredictable and crashy (best way I can describe it!).

If you've done more than 50k miles you will notice a difference just swapping for new.
People drive for too long on shocks that whilst safe are past their best.
I am running the Tein springs, 29mm drop at the front 33mm drop in the rear, no issues at all with bottoming out on anything, they are sat on stock springs.
