Well the 2 is near enough back :-) :-) :-)

Needed to get some tyres sorted, and found a couple of places selling Toyo T1 R's

MyTyres - worked out to be about £160 for supply only.

Just spoken with a guy at BlackCircles, who originally quoted me £230 ! Told him about the price from MyTyres, and they have just offered me the tyres for £150 supply only, or £195 supply + fit.

Going for the supply only option, as I can get them fitted for free anyway.

Bargain !!

Yep - total for all 4 tyres - and thanks, yeah only a couple of things to get sorted, and then she will be road worthy again.

Guys - if anyone else is interested, I just had a response back from BlackCircles regarding this price : this is for the 4 tyres as previously mentioned in my post. The costings I was given were £150 for tyres & delivery only, or £195 for tyres & delivery & fitting. They state that they have to deliver the tyres to a company address, but I am sure most of you like me will be able to get them delivered to your works address :-) :-) :-)

Not a bad price at all....i remember buying 4 tyres for the Alfa Spider...the cheapest was £420 s:(

why 195/55 r15 ?
195/50 r15 is pratically the same diameter as the stock 185/55 r15...
still in time to change your order? s:)

The tyres on the front are actually

195/50/15's - apparently they are cheaper than 195/55/15's too

195 fronts may not give you enough stagger if you have 15" rears - as I think 205 is as wide as you can go? (or if the rims take more, I dont think there are any 215 tyres in 15" and a suitable aspect ratio)

ideally you want 185/55/15 on teh front and 205/50/15 rear

Are these definitely the recommended sizes for pre-facelift wheel sizes?

Yes, I found my local Hi-Q was the same price as blackcircles price including fitting. Blackcircles without fitting was about 12 quid cheaper so not much in it really.

Update for anyone who's interested, Camskill will do the set of 4 for £182.60, delivery only though. I'm considering going through with this but again once you add 40-50 quid for the fitting seperately you're back at more or less the same price...is it really worth saving a tenner when I can just get blackcircles to deliver to an affiliated fitting center...probably not. Waiting for one more quote from a local Toyo distributer so we'll wait and see

Anyone on 17's wanting t1r's might be out of luck I tried to find 245/35/17's today and was told by our local Tyre Spot that there are none in the country and Toyo have no plans to make any more at present. I was offered falkens but thought I'd look around a bit further before going for a brand I haven't used before

I did wonder about Falken tyres, but I just changed my front tyres on my other car from Goodyear F1s to Falken FK452s and they are a real surprise. A bit more squeal when you spin the wheels, but more grip than I had in the wet before and just as grippy in the dry.
I know its an MPV type thing, but it is putting 190bhp and 300lbft through those tyres.
I haven't gone for them on the Roadster yet, as my Toyos haven't done very much mileage yet, and loads of tread left.
Toyo are buggers for not doing this size any more.
