Haha it wasn't actually. It was the A1 in this case. Stannington on-ramp to A1. Incline gradient to national speed limit. Perfect to testing load.

The cable definitely went from the bins to the radio. It's ecu-control related for sure.. But what...?

Is that mystery cable a Toyota cd /sat nav changer lead?

That is a very very plausible option.
Hmm... Yes that's gotta be it.

Theory busted haha. Thanks Steve

I still stand by the "needs a remap" though.

I'm sure it will help but the only thing I will say ..... why should it need remapping? What's changed since it was mapped?

Well that's the big unknown.
But we can't find any mechanical issues. And there is no physical reason why, with a boost controller, the boost should just continue to climb indefinitely.
I really shouldn't be seeing boost spikes like that.
The wastegate is fine, you can hear it. And the actuator arm moves very freely.

So, is the boost controller shafted? Is the boost solenoid shafted? Or is the map shafted?
Gotta be one of them. It runs absolutely fine without the solenoid.
So something is causing that solenoid to clamp shut, stopping the wastegate from opening

Are you going to take over to redline?

Nah. Well, depending on the response I get. I've gotten in touch with RA Motorsport in Perth. Much much closer and they recently took on Russ Paton, who used to be part of DastekUK. And he's a bit of a Jap tuning legend up north.
So, if Russ still has his Dastek kit, we'll go there. If not, Redline.

Boost control solenoid must be shot.
Well thats what i would put my money on.

Was 13psi the most you saw before the boost cut?
Wonder if thats the most a t25 can make.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Well I wasn't going to try for more haha. 13psi was enough for me to know sh1t ain't right.
Solenoid or map/boost controller is my guess as well. Might be an idea actually to test the solenoid and wiring. If the car is throwing voltage down the line then the controller is fine (might still be map). Then I can try putting voltage down the solenoid to see if it opens.

13psi isn't something I would like the gauge to be reading. Most I've seen from any of mine has been 10.5psi

Be interesting to see what the solution is / outcome

I've just done a bit more "schooling" on boost controllers/solenoids and feel suitably enlightened.
Basically the effects we're seeing are that similar to a manual boost controller set incorrectly.

If you build up boost slowly it's fine, but then it lets it build too much. Your foot is the boost controller.
If you quickly build boost, it spikes to 12-13 for a millisecond and then drops. By that time the cut has kicked in and your head is sent flying over the steering wheel. But not before the intake sees that spike.

Solenoid testing next week  s:) :) s:)
Lend us yours Scott?  s:) :) s:)  haha

Really generous of you dude but it's just the solenoid we need. Guess it has to be compatible with the Dastek boost controller

can you post up a pic or some specs of the solenoid?

Just tried to put voltage through it and it definitely clicks audibly.
That doesn't mean it works though. But it is one half finger pointing towards the map again.
Also, when disconnected its definitely open towards the wastegate, so the valve does open/close.
Hence my suspicions are once again at the map

Here it is disconnected

It could be that the solenoid is working as it should but there's an iffy seal inside somewhere allowing some leakage

But then again you mention that if you are gentle and progressive with the loud pedal its fine.

Yeah basically if I go f'kin Mikka Hakkinnen style on the accelerator and feather it keep it up to 10psi,it's a beast.
But I don't want to have to rely on my foot to be the boost controller  s:) :) s:)  And Helen really doesn't
