Perhaps you can donate it to the club Simon, much like the luggage rack. Even better you could do arch rolling at DD!! Especially as your car will be with the paint guy all day as per usual!!  s;-) ;-) s;-)

I didn't know you had one. It wasn't too expensive anyway
Quote from: "JoeCool"Yeah, It's an arch roller! I cracked my paint with mine! Lots of heating and lots of care and patience needed I think.
Oh dear! That's made me worried. We managed to take the entire vinyl wrap off my car, so I'm hoping it doesn't require much more patience than that

You definitely need a heat gun to help the paint flex without cracking. Because of the inner arch stopping the roller you are only rolling the top 300mm or so of the arch but probably best to heat beyond this. I just ran the gun over the arch (keeping it moving) until the arch was warm/hot to the touch then rolled for a short while then a few more seconds with the heat gun and repeat. I was advised to unclip the rear bumper to allow the arch to move.

The inner arch will melt though so have to watch you dont get that part too hot.

Not sure I would want to do this to someone elses car!

PS Stu, Andy has resprayed quite a bit of my car since last Ding Day so hopefully there wont be too much for him to do this year!

Helen's auto maintainer here;

Yesterday she took it out for a spin (with me in my car) and she said it was just lagging. I pulled away from her on a 2nd gear pull, which obviously isn't right. Also said it felt flat in the higher revs.
So I said I'd look at it, and like a good husband, I did today. I plugged in OBD2 and mounted my phone up with Torque and went for a drive. -25 fuel trims basically all the damn time. Not good. Did indeed drive like a pile of poop. Hesitating.

Took it home and thought what we always think; first things first, clean the maf.
Pulled MAF out (easier said than done on the SP240 btw), went to clean it. For some reason I grabbed my spare MAF and put it alongside. It had different part numbers. Found this a bit odd so thought I'll try putting in the spare MAF.
Forgot the all-important computer reset and went for a drive.

Night/day. Fuel trims creeping slowly back up to -17, -15, -12, -11, and up it went. It was the damn maf!! Anyway, now hovering around -8 to -11 to 3 or 4, so, happy times.
Let that be another lesson people; clean and check yours MAFs! There's a reason why this is our first go-to when the car isn't fueling right.

Plugged the boost solenoid in to see if that solved the overboost issues. It definitely improved it by a fair bit. I had a good ol' hoon about in the back roads and scared the living bejesus out of myself. I forgot what 235-240hp felt like in the MR2.
I did get it to overboost once though so...unplugged again.

That is the tale of the Jack the MR2 for today  s:) :) s:)

I'll get the part number. See if I can get any wiser. I don't think the part is wrong, it's just that it was knackered  s:) :) s:)  Or very dirty. Could be that if I put it in now (I've cleaned it) the car is fine

EDIT:
22204-0J010

According to ToyoDIY this MAF is used in

11/2005-06/2011   TOYOTA YARIS   KSP90,NLP90,NSP90,SCP90

01/2003-10/2008   TOYOTA AVENSIS   ADT25*,AZT25*,CDT250,ZZT25*

The 22204-22010 is the one used in the MR2 (officially, and is also the same as the one I now put in the car)

I'm assuming that someone put that MAF in by accident then??

No don't think so. It's a different part number but in that list of cars is a Corolla 1.8 1zz-fe. So must be compatible. The car was built by Matt, so this is highly unlikely. I'm assuming he wouldn't have MAFs for a Yaris or Corolla lying around for the fun of it.
Maybe it broke earlier and whoever owned it had it replaced by Toyota or another garage, and they got this part, which must have shown up as compatible

Or this is the MAF from factory and it's just dirty, or knackered.

Exciting day today. After a long time of having a car with odd symptoms, we inadvertently came to the solution today.

During Ding Day, our trusty ChrisGB had a go in an attempt to get closer to solution.
Between him and Carolyn, the next steps were to remove the boost solenoid and plug the turbo housing into the wastegate, and get the injectors cleaned.

On the drive back from Ding Day two outcomes were decided; get rid of the car (yes that's how sick we were) , or take it down a peg. Turn it into a TTE turbo basically.

Today in a spare 20 mins I unplugged the hose into the boost solenoid and plugged it into the wastegate. Then undid the cable tie on the hose when, to my surprise, the hose fell down and I noticed the other end wasn't attached to the turbo!

The boost hose had broken off at the turbo side, just after the jubilee clip.

Connected it back up, went for a long drive.... Enjoying every second of the car as it should have been.
Next step, connect up the solenoid again. If we have a healthy SP240.. Happy says! If not, solenoid will remain off the car.

Now...
Can someone explain how it boosted to 6psi on the gauge (and not higher) even though the wastegate actuator wasn't even connected to the turbo housing?

What's it boosting now connected you have connected it up? I'm surprised it made 6psi + without it being connected.

That's what puzzling the crap out of me.
Unless the hose was very brittle around that connector and it snapped when I undid the clip on the solenoid side.
And it was the solenoid at fault...

But then if it's that brittle that it would snap from me just undoing the other end, then it would never have held 10+ psi would it?

Was going to say brittle but like you said it wouldn't hold 10psi + very well.
The mystery continues I guess

Great read  :-) :-) :-)  and I don't really understand all the technical bits, hope you get it sorted soon. Your definitely working hard at it, reminds me I have time to get mine to where I want to be.
