Tuscany

Just after any ideas really!  

We're planning to drive down to Tuscany, taking the first 2 weeks of April.  We're renting a Villa near Montalcino (Siena) for a week in the middle.  

Any ideas?  For example, recommendations of routes (done the basic things like theaa.com), places to stay or see on the way, unmissable roads (not forgetting that much of the Alps may still be snowy - how can I find out in advance?), places we must see once there, etc, etc.
