Hi, noob question

Is it feasible to fit a fwd engine into our '2' ?? presumably anything is possible, but is it remotely practical and cost effective. I have read the turbo and supercharging sections in this part of the forum and clearly issues arrive around supply and demand of the various parts. Maybe heresy here, but would a complete engine swap to another engine manufacturer (as long as they are popular and hence relatively cheap) be a fair avenue to pursue? ......advice welcomed

If possible, have folks considered the following or completed a conversion with these options(I have had a cursory glance and didn't see any)

VAG 1.8-2.0 turbo starting at 150-160 bhp up to a remapped 240 +upwards with much torque

Ford Fiesta ST 180 bhp 1.6litre 4 cylinder, 200bhp 3 cylinder 1.5 litre with much torque

Vauxhall 1.6-1.8-2.0 litre turbo as above

The most common non Toyota swap would be a honda k20/24 engine, you can even buy ready made conversion mounts from Innovative in the states.
Just about anything can be made to fit with a bit of effort, there was someone on here fitting an Audi V8 and the Vag 1.8t has been in the works from a company for a while.

So far I've seen an EJ20 (completed and on the track on youtube), Ford ST220, and Mitsubishi V6 (Conversion still ongoing - it's in New Zealand) and as above, tons of Honda ones... Oh yeah and one Volvo T5 conversion.

Bulk of the conversions will be 2ZZ, followed by 1MZ and 2GR. Much smaller crowd will be the 2AR conversions which I reckon will grow to be greater than the the above list in the future (maybe!).

There has been someone who has swapped in the 1.8t engine, Honda K20/K24 swap isn't that common over here but have seen some very high power builds over in the states.

Golf R32 engine has been done as well. Whatever the code is for that. 3.2L V6.

fastest 1/4 mile is 12.4.. which is interesting as I would have thought it would be quicker.. but his gearshifts do look amazing

Looks like he's using standard 6 speed gearbox too judging by where reverse is..
