so I have access to set of starlet coils and thinking of modifying them to fit zzw30.
they are longer than mk3 but has enough adjustability to match. bottom mounts might fit with spacers or minor fabrication. top mounts are bigger but seem easier to fabricate bore out a larger size and drill the appropriate holes? sounds easy... (never is.)

thoughts??????

Sounds like a waste of time to me.
Why not sell them and buy proper zzw30 suspension.
For most MR2s on the road stock setup is better than coilovers anyway.

well currently I have access to a bunch of performance parts for them so why not make use of em. could sell them but it wouldn't bring me much closer to buying a set of BC or the like...

got time and a bunch material...

Perhaps I am naive in thinking thing like valving and spring rates are tuned to individual models.

no not at all, there isn't much init for weight tbf 60kg... so I thought it should be ok.

But the Starlet's weight is at the front....?

kostonhumar

I'm with you, well that is something I can work out. given the starlet is a 5 seater I'm sure it would take the weight. but I'd prob use two sets of fronts... not set on the idea just got more time than I know what to do with.

I think you're wasting your time pal.

Starlet spring rate will be heavily front biased. The exact opposite of the MR2.

Are you sure you're up to the task mate?
As in you think the power steering pump is in the engine bay and it's actually at the other end of the car.

granted I haven't worked on these cars in 5/6 years but I have built a few cars. from the ground up. from tubed chasis to to tubular rear end. so safe to say I think I'm good. now wiring pffft slag me off all day long.

Whilst this is admirable, you're still barking up the wrong tree here mate.

Iain

Sounds like it'll be a right pain in the a**e to do and i can see no chance of it ever working correctly.

When its something as important as suspension just fit the correct stuff designed for the car from the start.

Jay

Can't see them fitting without quite a lot of messing about tbh, there's bound to be cheaper places to start from as well, I've been keeping an eye out for EP82 coil overs for a while and they seem to demand a premium over more common  place models for some reason.

If you think they are close enough and worth putting the time into someone was able to modify VW coilovers (Polo IIRC) to suit Starlets years back, became a budget option for a while as they were a fraction the price of BC's or D2's.  I can hoke some details of it out if that helps but I still think a set geared up for the ZZW30 will give you better results.

Who knows if it can be made to work (properly) but thats the fun part if you have the time / energy and the parts,  surely will have to swap front to rear and vice versa with the weight being at different ends..
