Shamelessly stolen from social media - someone has splurged on Thermomet lagging for their 1ZZ de-cat manifold. This is used in aerospace, F1 and military applications and is probably the best thermal management available for exhausts, turbos, wastegate etc. I've followed their work for a while, but I've seen prices being spoken of that would make Bezos weep. The poster of this said it was around four times the purchase price of the manifold, so assuming it's a Toyosports or similar, we're looking at ~£500. Amazing stuff though.

Does look nice but ouch!

Is the rest of their build up to this standard I wonder?

Would it not be better to pay the £625 or so on a "better" manifold and ceramic coating?

Probably.

Lagging > Ceramic > Ti/lava wrap >> nothing.

The improved flow of something like a Zero manifold over a Toyo might be offset slightly by the improved thermal management of the lagging compared to ceramic coating. But then flow is improved with hotter gasses. So an average manifold with the best thermal properties vs the best manifold with next best thermal properties would be interesting, as would the impact on AITs.

It's a bit more than just "flow" that is improved on a manifold like a Zero or PPE but what I will say is that the lagging looks great :) Only thing is.. I'd hate to have to repair a manifold with that on :)
...neutiquam erro.

It's a pretty much standard car in all other respects...
60% of the time it works everytime...

That's another good reason to start with a quality product like the Zero, there should be a lower chance of it requiring repair in future!

Not how I would have allocated my budget then!

It looks like the same stuff I seen on the space shuttle. If its water resistant it would be worth the cost but not for this application.
Real headers and other quality performance parts have always cost a fortune. Its because of cheap manufacturing of the Chinese that we have an abundance of cheap exhaust manifolds. In a case like this it would be better to wrap and if it goes bad you just get another cheap manifold.

I'd love to see a back to back between different lagging materials but I suspect at our power levels it will be unnoticeable. I have been thinking about getting a Funk blanket made for my Zero. This is smart, but also mega money... Blanket will be about half and probably just as effective when combined with wrap I guess.

That's like fitting a syvecs ecu to an NA 1zz total overkill.
Does look cool though.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.
