which happens when you change gear on a manual as well.

So I assume you mean that teh SMT can't drop and rengage teh clutch as quickly as we can?

Nothing to do with that - when doing a power run the car is in 4th gear right from the off. The SMT simply wont allow you to pull away in anything higher than 2nd

This is where a roller-based rolling road is better for testing SMT cars as the rollers have huuuuge amounts of inertia so the gearbox allows you to change normally.
