Centre brake light refurb

New centre brake lights are no longer available in the UK as far as I can see. The old ones can be polished up pretty easily and with some work the dirt that collects around the edges can mostly be removed however I'd love to be able to split mine apart and properly clean it up. It would even be interesting to investigate retro-fitting an LED strip in there.

I can't find record of anyone managing this. Has anyone had any luck?

I do recall seeing "message " signs to the rear of Police vehicles, don't know if it's still a thing?
