Title: Weird sized and extra thick drive shafts
Post by: MrT on May 23, 2023, 21:55
Hello group
I am trying to replace the CVs on my mr-s but I cannot find what parts should fit.
I've found the outer CVs come from the same era e120 Corolla with 29 teeth.
The inner UJ tripod is also a 29 tooth spline.
The mid shaft is a 20 spline fit to the transmission and the shaft is significantly thicker than mr2 options.
I cannot find how these have been made up or from which model or why they are so heavy duty. They came off my FL which I thought was stock but always suspected it was a cobbled together parts car..

Does anybody have any ideas about these please? I'm having to buy replacement shafts just to get the car running again for Hatton...

@MrT

If I have the right member, I still have the arms and shafts I picked up from you.
Might they be of use to you?

Folks here is a comparison of the original MR-S drive shafts and the frankenshafts that were on my FL. Are these Corolla T-Sport 2zz shafts or something? They are much thicker and have different CVs and UJs.

The green shafts are the frankenshafts...

Right. Same carrier bearing but different tripod spline

There is a difference between FL and PFL

FL are stronger.
Don't know if thats the case with yours.

Thanks Scotte
But nobody lists matching CVs or UJs for my driveshafts. Even the half shift I can't find a replacement for.
I tried comparing every front/mid transverse engine Toyota I could on parts sites, even autodoc. Couldn't find a match.
Heaven knows what these are then...
