replace nuts with nylocks

emanage harness is

 m http://www.boomslang.us/shop.htm (http://www.boomslang.us/shop.htm) m

should mean you don't have to buy teh ignition harness if you go for teh right one.

stil missed off teh european breakdown cover
and leave passenger seat out so you can everything back

nylocks on the exhaust bits would seem like a bad idea to me - the nylon will probably melt..

Oval nuts would be a good one, though (single use, they deform to grip the stud by becoming round), or use the old trick - one thick copper nut followed by a thin half-thickness copper nut wound on to the back of the first.

i really wouldn't fit the chargecooler Phil, this could create more problems than its worth for Gas, i'll fit the rad for you but do the guy a favour and dont fit it.

You: Passport, Driving License, Logbook, Holiday insurance, Camera & phrase book, card PIN numbers, GBP cash (you never know what it'll buy you!), Map/GPS European Maps, Wig and medallion  s:wink:  s:wink:

Car (optional): Cable ties, Gaffer tape and basic tools - just in case. Euro breakdown cover - again, just in case (and you generally have to notify them in advance that you're going).

re. IGN harness - Gas doesn't map IGN as standard, but I'm guessing you've arranged to have this done?

Worth making sure you have the latest firmware upgrade for wideband too, but this is available online.

Follow-up activities: bring back Ste's sandwich plate and haggle for a MAF-TB pipe for me?

Quote from: "spit"Car (optional): Cable ties, Gaffer tape and basic tools - just in case.

9 mm to 12 mm box wrenches and a couple of screw drivers should do it. Gloves as well if you end up having to work on any hot bits.
Title:
Post by: spit on March 15, 2006, 20:54
I'd also go with a smaller hex ratchet socket to tighten the jubilee clips if necessary (6mm I think, or is it 8?) - so much easier on your knuckles than using a screwdriver  s:oops:  s:oops:
Title:

Work on hot bits - ?

I honestly wouldnt have a clue, thats a risk I guess

Post by: Anonymous on March 15, 2006, 21:42
Phil, definately get yourself a pair of welder's mitts: They're pretty much heat-resistant, and if a bolt or clamp comes loose on the way back, you'll definately need them on to work anywhere near a hot turbo/exhaust.

Trust me on this, I had to do some emergency repairs about 30mins after leaving Mark's house the first time after my install. They're only about a fiver anyway, and will be worth their weight in gold should you need them.

Phil,
If you want a OBD reader, I can recommend a Car-Pal from Vital Engineering.

You can use it with a PC, Pocket PC or Mobile phone with blue tooth. With the laptop software you can even record 0-60 times   s:D :D s:D

Gas, let me know the best way to keep these bolts locked on, as Markiii who has the Hass kit had his bolts drop out and he ended melting half his engine bay.

Gas just to be clear the studs I had a problem with sheared, and were manifold to turbo
Title:
Post by: Anonymous on March 19, 2006, 22:02
What we use now is the cast iron manifolds with studs and not bolts and locking mothers. Does it help?
I am suggesting a drilled small hole and some "cable??" thru in it like on race applications. Easier and faster solution to point weld them after install.

Loosing the turbo bolts would couse less air and run rich in mi view.

No I think you're sorted Lee - Gas is fixing me up a sandwich plate.

Phil, Gas's cast manifold arrangement sounds like you should be OK. I need to get me one of these - although a little realignment of my DP will be required, and maybe an adjustment of the turbo brace. But after seeing how welds can crack I think this will be a good investment.

I wwould rather drill the right size of holle and cut the right thred in it. It would hold fine. Since it has been heat treated any welding makes it sensible on cracking.

If it's the 3rd (post cat) sensor then it runs on a time / start routine, so only comes on every other day IYSWIM. It doesn't affest the running of the car at all, so providing it's the only problem you can ignore it - a code reader / battery pull is the only way to reset them.
I took my HT off yesterday as well  s:) :) s:)

As someone else also had both o2 errors after getting their new exhaust ? i wondered.

Do you think its as a result of the banging needed to get the old one off?

might be worth removing them while you do those bigger jobs if that turns out to be the case.
